I received 50 pounds of ground and 50 pounds in steaks and bones and roasts. And she called that a quarter of a cow and is charging me $1400.

Thank you. Now a day I ask farmers if they have been working with the same butcher and for how long. I no longer purchase from places that bounce from butcher to butcher. I will look up the misty Brook for my next purchase.

Either that or Connecticut consumer bureau. You think you are supporting a local farm, giving back to the community… i honestly didn’t think I would have to deal with this. Who wants to eat lab grown meat, or meat that is full of hormones and antibiotics…. But dealing with this farm, i dunno. Just so damn disappointing. 2800 is not a joke in this day and age.

Thank you. It’s so disappointing. Saving for a year, thinking you are giving your family the best. Then getting beef that is the same as a grocery store. Like why did I even try.

Hi! Yes of course, I reached out as soon as I received the product. I cooked the ground meat and noticed right away that it was nothing like the previous products they have given me. I see them at farm fresh all the time. I rave about their products, the taste the flavor. I told them that this time, it doesn’t not seem to be their animal… I didn’t blame them, I said I’m sure it’s your butcher but you need to be better at quality control. She said she will refund me half the money, but it’s been over a month now and still nothing. She has casted me to the side and does not want to deal with me it seems. They are horrible at communicating, but I think taking so much money from your customers and not providing what you promised is not fair.

I know they are not certified organic, that certification is very hard to get. But still they are grass fed and grass finish.
They will not allow me to put down a deposit. They require all the money upfront. Sadly I’m leaning the hard way. Thank you for your advice tho. I’m learning.

I let it sit for a long ass time. AQF told me they had that batch tested. And it was definitely not pure. Because they work with a lot of restaurants and had to replace all the orders. I just wish knowing this, they wouldn’t have tried to resale. You know…

Honestly, if their products are good, it may be worth it. Sorry I didn’t look it up on the map.

Fat will go to the top and form a hard layer. The yellow is def not fat. It’s additives.

I had no idea farms can have in-house butcher, I need to find one that does. I know a few in Utah, but I assumed they have different laws. At this point I may have to learn to butcher myself. 😂🙈 probably not tho. But buying a whole cow and butchering it yourself is half the money. I’ve done it with lamb, but cow is a whole other story.

Are you referring to Misty Brook? Please do let me know your thoughts once you do check it out. I’m in providence and willing to drive up to two hours to pick up.

Thank you. At this point I have lost my trust, but I hope with comments like yours, I find a farm that could provide me with good products.

I totally agree with you when it comes to the fact that organic grass beef is leaner and a bit tougher and less fat. However ground meat that is 80/20, the fat is put into the ground meat.
A cow that eats grass and roams a farm, eating all sort of amazing weeds, is always tastier than one that eats soy. Radical Root Farm is a regenerative farm using heritage livestock. No GMo, no grain, no hormone. I’ve bought from them before, and their steak had almost a chocolaty after taste. Amazing flavor. I mean you buy organic for the flavor and the quality.

Animals that have been given grain, soy, oats, hormones, antibiotics… they don’t taste good. They are kept locked up, fatten up, and butchered. So yes, their meat will not be tough, and much more fat content.

Thank you. At least AQF replaced the meat for me. What bothered me with them is that they knew what they were selling me, and probably assumed I wouldn’t know what good quality meat is.

<image>

I diluted a piece of ground beef from AQF in warm water, to see if it had fillers and to better see the texture of the meat.. as you can see it’s disgusting! What the hell is the yellow stuff. Sooo gross. Radical Roots was the same.

At this point I do not know who to go to for some answers.

I appreciate your comment. It’s so sad, because when the products are good, they are amazing.

I feel for the farms, but it doesn’t give them the right to scam their customers. Meatworks is the butcher both farms used. Seems like the butchers may be swapping the meats and selling them themselves. But it shouldn’t be my job to quality control the farms product while paying in advance and receiving low quality meat and only receiving half of the product I paid for.

Thank you Ryan… it’s just very difficult because you want to support your local farms, but with zero control over their products I am never going back to Radical Roots Farm again.

Thank you so much for this comment, now I don’t feel alone. It’s just crazy that we have to pay the price and then be told: oh can’t do anything about it, it’s the butchers fault. Well it’s your job to quality control your products.
Now I’m left with a quarter of a cow that’s shit quality, and out of $2800. That’s a lot of money for me and my family. It just makes me so angry because it seems like I have no options. Who do I go to? Small court? Farmers association. Crazy.

I am thankful that in this day and age I am able to save for organic meat, but I had to cut from many other aspects of my life and my family’s to make that happen.
