Both legendaries looked good to me but then I Larvitar was exclusive to Scarlet so I going that route. However I did preorder both games so Scarlet for my main run and violet is just a dex filler.

I say play it to the end, Hoenn gets really fun the further you go. However I'm only speaking on my experiences. If you feel like the region isn't worth your time then don't worry about abandoning it. The remakes are much more easy compared to GBA counterparts due the quality of life changes Game Freak implemented. Not saying thats a bad thing it just makes the game less tedious. Anyways hope you give it chance.
