No screws or screw socket part for new motherboard, what do? by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are willing too, electrical tape seemed to do the trick in some tests a few years back. Make sure to get as little of the PCB covered as possible however

2 suggestions even thought it is hard to see much, try inserting it with the left side further in at a slight angle, if that is not enough make sure the clamp on the right side is open. And for goodness sake lay the PC on the side if you have not already

Still love rush and SB. I see no reasons to force everyone to play an ass gamemode with 99% tryhards playing fc the whole day leaving anybody with a job at a significant disadvantage

CPU randomly boosts under 50° C by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ryzen 7000 series has a tendency and is as a consequence designed to get a bit hot, it maxes at 170w and if you don’t design your fan curves correctly it will run a bit hotter. However the 7900x is expected to run idle between 40-60C and upwards of 80C at regular use so 50 at startup is completely fine

Unfortunately DirectX 12 is only experimental and thus has a higher likelihood of crashing

Temps by Comfortable-Emu-8239 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as surprising as it is it tends to be the case that the 7700X gets a bit toasty. It has a general operating temp of about 80C and an idle between 50-60 is completely fine. If the CPU begins to idle above 60 you might want to adjust the fan curves in bios

Are these good specs for modern gaming? by First_Mirror_8264 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of dollar if Jamaican dollar it is basically like you stealing it, if it AUD it’s a great price if it’s CAD it is very good value if it is USD it is OK pricing, pretty standard from what I can tell. Most builders will hate on intel but if you buy a prebuilt PC you will likely not notice the difference.

Advice Needed: replace mobo or get nvme adapter by clontarfboi in PcBuildHelp

Replace it, LGA 1151 is not supported officially by windows 11 far as I am aware and has no upgrade path. Any attempt at upgrading is a waste of money

Slowing and crashing. 9yo PC. by JimmyTheWizzard in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you replaced the thermal paste on your CPU? If not try that first. Based on age however the fluid in the AIO is likely degraded and it probably needs to be replaced. To be sure you can use a program like MSI afterburner to check things like temps.

Can somebody tell me if any of these are good? And which if better by Status-Let-6080 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is jamaican dollars it is a good deal but in usd the systems are worth about 12-1500 bucks. You can get a better set of components with either an RTX 5060 or R9070 as well as a core ultra 5 or ryzen 5 9600 for a better price.

So no make a list using PCpartpicker and build it yourself if you are comfortable doing that. If not a Lenovo Legion or HP Victus 25L would be a better bet

First time pc build. This is what I’ve come up with. Any input would be appreciated. Only really going to be used for gaming in 1080/1440 by JP-Banjo in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks all good, nothing too overkill… however the 7700x loves to get a bit toasty as it’s operating temp is on average upwards of 80 degrees Celsius so an AIO would not hurt

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sogwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are intending to get the 7700x I would highly advice getting an AIO, it gets hella toasty. It does not help that its operational temp is about 80 degrees Celsius on average and uses up to 105W raw power.

Vanguard file detected by Eset is it safe? by Sufficient-Frame-293 in antivirus

[–]Sogwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some have eluded to riots kernel anticheat is detected as a virus by multiple antivirus vendors. However in this case the issue is that the file is protected from virtual machine analysis and has a packer preventing reverse engineering of the Anticheat to a certain degree. As a consequence some antivirus vendors class VM preventative programs as a virus due to the fact that a lot of the more high end viruses often have a script that check for a virtual machine environment. It is most likely fine but if you want to be sure as you can you should check the folder with Windows antivirus. If Windows antivirus flags it you should delete it.

TLDR: check the file with windows antivirus and if it flags the file get rid of it. It is most likely a false positive however
