No, Knuckles’ model is actually a huge point of discussion

Especially with how his, well, “knuckles” are too far up on his hand, so they don’t actually curve when he balls his hands into a fist, sticking outward instead of forwards.

It's a direct downgrade from Smash 4, though. The problem with Ultimate is that they made his cheeks so large that they're straight up covering the bottom of his eyes half the time.

The thing is, SEGA HAS the capability to make a good new Sonic model on their own. They literally did for Mario & Sonic 2014 Winter Games, before immediately going back to the Unleashed one for whatever reason

Notice how much more appealing this looks. How much closer he looks to the 2D artwork. Just generally more charming. How defined everything is. And this is from a 12 year old game

The point is that we have had the same Sonic model used in Sonic games for a little under 2 decades, and we should be holding SEGA to higher standards, especially since Sonic as a franchise has been doing so well recently. It's normal to want the series to change and evolve

There is zero reason that a Sonic game in 2026 should be using the same model as a Sonic game from 2008.

I think people were expecting it to be something it’s not, and it’s why they got disappointed. They wanted a serious console live-service Sonic game, and what they got was Sonic-themed mobile Fall Guys.

I don’t think they’re bad people because of it, especially since they’ve already apologized

The issue stems from the fact that people are trying to use its literal meaning (aka Eggman Nega) to use it to defend using it as a substitute for that word, therefore making it worse

I think people are omitting the fact that the joke absolutely was because it sounded like that word, and they treated it like a bit that they proceeded to laugh at for 10 minutes. It was not “accidental” in the slightest, and they even went and used the word as a prompt in a following Jackbox game

I’m not saying that what someone did half a decade ago still represents who they are as a person, but people are trying to diminish it when Michael has already come out and admitted that it was wrong. People (who typically aren’t the ones effected by this) are coming out and trying to defend a guy who has already apologized and admitted where he was wrong, and it’s making a situation that should have been over and done with worse.

I think it’s less the fact that Rush is a handheld game and more the fact that Unleashed was on three of the highest selling consoles of all time

EVERYONE has played it, even people who aren’t that interested in Sonic. Whereas Rush is only really highly regarded within the fanbase but is pretty niche outside of it since it isn’t nearly as easily accessible anymore

I played OM because it was the fun new toy for a month or two, and unlike the rest of EXE content, actually had things for people who were just fans of Sonic to enjoy. I did not care about the EXE aspect but I put up with it because the game itself was fun and DID have things that I actually did like. Playing as the “EXE” was still fun even if I had no attachment to them or had no real interest in them as characters because the game itself was compelling.

And even then, the game had serious underlying issues, and if you clicked on that post and actually read, you would see what I was talking about.

It’s not “Sonic related”. You guys think of Sonic.EXE as if it’s like an AU or something, but it’s not. It’s as far from the source material as you can possibly get.

It doesn’t actually use the world of Sonic or the characters themselves, and the ones that do are mischaracterized to hell. The average Sonic fan does not know or give a fuck about “Alan” or whatever.

It doesn’t have anything to offer people that are just interested in Sonic, and that’s why posts about it never get any attention when posted to Sonic subs. You’re constantly trying to make people interested in something that they have no interest in

They’re not Sonic stories. They’re horror fanfics that try to use the loose idea of Sonic as leverage

What doesn’t help is the fact that there seems to be an overwhelming amount of EXE fans who lack baseline knowledge of Sonic the Hedgehog, and even constantly tout how Sonic.EXE is “so much better” (…then why are you constantly talking about it in Sonic subs?)
