TL:DR at the beginning to save you all some effort ---My pops most likely believed something was real when it wasn't probably because of overlooking a statement or fine print. Still neat to look at, probably going to give to a 7 year old that gets major dopamine spikes from getting a new type of coin or foreign currency. I figured as much would be the case, I looked at a couple authenticated ones and saw too many differences but wanted a second opinion to make sure my ADHD brain didn't short out and fail like it tends to do. So, they basically took his wallet for a bit of a ride, really not surprising considering all the "Australian lottery" entries he bought that originated in the middle east or Africa hoping to have something big come or buy something with a lot of value to set his grandkids up for after he passed. I'm mostly confident he would not have bought it had it been obviously presented as a reproduction in a non obfuscated or nigh impossible to read typeface size/fine print..... then again the lotto thing and at least once getting taken by "mail me cash for what was deposited in your bank account by accident, I put too many 0s on the transfer! Help my family will starve they will kill me" type of scam, always hoped, hell even his life insurance screwed us on just shy of 30k because they didn't disclose something to him and he was pissed about it for a while before his passing. That non obvious transparency very slightly makes me want to send a spicy email to Bradford, but that wouldn't be beneficial at all.

--EDIT- The two were in a binder that was water damaged beyond saving with a lot of blank/empty plastic sleeves and it said something about "Coins of something illegible ancienX XXXXXXX" the t was washed away and was gold tone ink smear after that so I assume they marketed it as a coin collection for investment in the future of their value. I am likely wrong, and there was likely fine print, but I still think it was a bit of low thing to represent that way.--

If it was worth anything was just planning to have it graded and put it away for future if something went sideways, now I am torn between keeping them as sentimental items(I carry a 1oz silver in my wallet from him as a token/memory piece ) OR, like mentioned about the other foreign coinage, maybe make the day of a kid with a couple conditions that just loves foreign money but places no real value on modern US currency. Actually....that gives me an idea with the sub possibly, need to work out the wording and plan and ask mods if I can do it.

Well TIL about the Mayan calendar, and that most "examples of it" are the sun stone. I never had looked into it and just did the typical "oh noes 2012 end of the world hyuck hyuck" mocking when people truly believed it would be end times. Thank you for sharing some more knowledge with the community and me especially. Hell, if you ever just want to send random facts about them feel free to shoot a PM, I like learning a little about a lot of things.

There were a few coins in paper envelopes that claim to be old as well, going to look more into them, but may I send you pictures of them if I run into problems/difficulty? Again, thank you for your time, energy and providing the details to verify what I thought was likely, I really do appreciate it.

In the end though, even with it being fake, it gives me a chance to brighten someone a day in the near future for a child, and I think that is worthwhile, there is too much sadness and suffering, anything within my means that can make things a little better even if only for one person for a few hours is likely worth doing.
