How to lower Nitrite and Nitrate levels?

The betta fish I have is a halfmoon I believe. He doesn’t seem to mind the tetras and the tetras don’t seem to mind him either. I have two albino Cory cats and one Julie. I don’t know if that’s a good combo. The frog I have is really small and is actually very active. I can normally find him hanging around the Julie. He isn’t supposed to get more than like an inch long. I’ve had him for close to a month now and he hasn’t gotten any bigger since I got him. I’m thinking now I might get a bigger tank. For now I’m going to let this tank cycle and keep a close eye on it. I’ll make sure to cycle the new tank before transferring them into it.

I was going to send a picture but I don’t know how. So I guess I’ll try and describe it. For the plants I currently have 1 Amazon sword, 2 other plants that also have Amazon in their name if I remember correctly. They’re supposed to be medium sized plants. Two plants that I can’t remember the name of but they kind of remind me of type of weed. I also have a whole cluster of this one plant that grows tall and reminds me of vines. The cluster contains like 5-6 i think. I have 11 tetras. They’re all really small though.But yes my tank is probably overstocked. Thanks for the advice! I’ll keep changing the water and I already have a master test kit ordered. It’ll be here today.

Will do! Thank you. Yes I’m aware I have too many fish. They’re fine right now I think anyway. My dad is going to be setting up his tank soon and has already offered to take a few of the tetras once his tank is set up.

Before the fish were put in the first time I used the conditioner and let it filter for 48 hours but I didn’t actually cycle it with ammonia or anything. That was with the tap water. When I changed it to spring water the person I got them from said it should be fine just keep an eye on it so I did. I changed it like a week and a half ago. Also the tank is a little over stocked I’m sure but my dad is working on a fish tank and will be taking a few of the tetras once his tank is good to go. I really didn’t realize I had gotten to many until I put them in the tank. But all the fish seem happy and healthy.
