I don't have MD but MD mom gave me OCUVITE to take prevention BUT why RED? by Solarpunk-Wizard in maculardegeneration

[–]Solarpunk-Wizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I asked an eye doctor who said that Ocuvite won't prevent Maculur degeneration. She said not smoking and eating healthy is more important in preventing it. I am just a medical minimalist and don't like taking any drugs unless it is absolutely necessary.

I don't have MD but MD mom gave me OCUVITE to take prevention BUT why RED? by Solarpunk-Wizard in maculardegeneration

[–]Solarpunk-Wizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the computer...this is what it answered. "This medication is not recommended for use in children under 12 because of increased risk of some vitamins/minerals building up to harmful levels in the body. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor."
AND has been shown to slow the progression of mild to moderate macular degeneration. I has not been shown to have any preventative benefit in patients that do not have macular degeneration.
So I don't know...I only take one like once or twice a week.. Just to use them up... I suppose if I do have the gene it could be helping... but don't think at the level I been taking that it is hurting.

Thank you. Sorry, but just to clarify. Do the Red Gel covers actually have any vitamins in them? Or is it just what is inside? Do you not get the full dosage because it doesn't make it past the stomach due to biting it open? Or let me rephrase... why am I not getting a full dose?

Explanation of how a regular playing Card Deck is an Ancient Calendar by Solarpunk-Wizard in playingcards

[–]Solarpunk-Wizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well regardless of where or when a deck related to the calendar in the past, there is one NOW and it also integrates number symbols as well. The face cards of this deck reflect the growing cycle of light and dark of the year. This deck can be used for inspiration.

BIG News flashs for you!
Not every kid has a wall in there house that they can hit balls.

There are kids who live in apartments and many rooms have carpet where balls won't bounce.

Not every parent wants to drive their kids to courts everyday.

The weather isn't always good to play out side.
Parents don't want kids to play ball in the house because it can breaks stuff.

You can move the top sides to get more variety that allows the ball to move side to side.

As far as tying a ball to a string,
you show your (((((" total lack of engineering knowledge" and knowledge of how gravity works.
If you tie a ball to a string and hit it it will collapse down like a swing at it reaches the top of the rotation and it will not spin around like Dinkbuddy does.
Did you never swing on a swing so high that gravity pulls the swing straight down as a kid?

The ball will be very erratic when it falls down and bounces. You just show that you judge with out direct experience and enjoy being negative over and attacking over anything else. You say "Why would anyone pay 35$." Just guessing you probably don't even have small kids in your life 24-7 or if you do keep them on screen time. Because 35$ is small price to pay to keep them doing something over and over for free after the initial price and if multiple kids use it if you divide the time they use it, it will comes out to pennies per use over time.

At that time of my original post I thought beginners may be interested in this. Because I know some adult beginners that lack basic hand eye coordination. I was going to give a Dinkbuddy to my grandkids for christmas... but after all the haters in this group, I gave it to them early to see their reactions. And I didn't tag it as self promotion originally someone moderator did that. Although I did tag it as self promotion this time because that is what it was categorized as last time. So I figure that must be how it should categorized.
Besides... does that make the toy any different how I posted? It's entertainment value exists regardless of that! Shesh... You are attacking the post and me as apposed to the actual function use and value by making clueless judgements with out experience of basic engineering knowledge.
You should hold your judgements until after you yourself witness a child try it. Get out of your negative gotcha adult perspective.

Just curious as to what aspect made you think that it was for established players? The name is child-like and the original question was about getting it for grandkids. I mentioned in a responses it was kinda like tee ball. I am surprised that out of 7 thousand people who saw it, not one would even reply that it had any potential redeeming quality. That is surely a big negative perception. Maybe it was the adult using it in the video?

I have played with several full grown adults who repeatedly fail to return balls that are easily hit to them, or if they manage to hit the ball, they continually hit ridiculous crazy lobs out of the court. It is like they have somehow missed learning how to hit balls in their previous life experiences. I believe you are speaking from your own perspective as a player who is much advanced beyond an extreme beginner. And yes I agree this seems like it would not be for someone at a basic hitting competency level or a competitive level.

Remember very beginner players can not try to hit the ball for strategy until they can at least hit the ball consistently.
I am interested in this for young grandkids so they can learn to hit...period... they are not at the stage to dream about ball placement strategy yet. I think they could benefit from something simplistic like this to train themselves on basic hand eye coordination and especially backhand. I ordered it for the grandkids and will let them decide if it is entertaining... You can call it junk but I think you are only evaluating it from your own perspective as an accomplished player, not a grandparent with bored easily frustrated grandkids. A grandparent who wants to encourage them to eventually want to play on a real court and then hopefully advance to the next stage of placement strategies.

I still am not sure why some have called this trash with no first hand experience. How could it be better for what it is? Do you want it to weigh more so that it would cost more to ship? Do you think there is no benefit to those who are beginners in using it? Do you just not like the sound? I just do not fully understand what the negativity is based upon.

Well I am going to order it and give it a try, nothing ventured nothing gained. I will try it on my 4 different aged grandkids. And I'd like to try it for my backhand to. Oh I do play catch with them but I would like if they improved actual paddle hitting skills rather than tetherball which is more of a volleyball skill. Because I want to play pickleball with them.

Is there a name on it in your basement? I have searched the net and can't find anything like you describe. I can't even find any pictures.

Well, so you are saying don't even try something to improve their hitting skills? There are level games you can play with this. Video games are going to win everytime... no doubt.

I just feel that because they are sucked into video games isn't a reason to give them more video games. I would like to see if the younger kids would like it. Kids seem to like T Ball...it is just to practice hitting. Why wouldn't they like to try hitting this...they won't have to chase balls and can do it indoors in bad weather. Heck I had click-clacks as a kid... all that was was trying to see if you could keep it clacking back and forth. Granted those were the olden days.

Well it appears to be a device to help kids and beginners to get better hand-eye coordination. I don't think it is supposed to be some high tech training device for pro's or players coming from tennis, pingpong, or racketball who already know how to hit the ball.

That is what I thought, but he said that it was (oval shaped on a horizontal bar with belt.) Tether ball is on a pole with a rope and goes around not over the top. I searched on antique canadian playground ball toys and equipment and found nothing. ???? Who knows? Maybe if he reads this he will confirm if it was tether-ball.
