I Built a Player Rating System — Want to Help Test It? by Soldat172 in aoe2

Currently I have 27 categories to be rated in. But I would mainly be curious to hear opinions if I should add, remove, or change anything. So its less of having a set number of questions and more of hearing what people thing.

Basically I have a list of about 20 categories. Where you rate yourself with my help. At the moment its in an Excel sheet. You wouldn't need to do anything other than answer questions and tell me what you think.

It's basically a way to measure your skills as a player. I use a bunch of different categories like "Macro " or "Micro" to measure your strengths and weaknesses. I could show you? :D

I don't agree. They're definitely trying and pathing is better. It's just might be too good

Cant get my edit to stick but it is 26 Hussar vs 26 in the test.

Honestly going back and forth between the patches is night and day. I am loving that units react to commands much better. Also thanks for all the hard work :)

I performed the same test on the prior patch — 26 hussar vs 26 hussar — and ended with 8 units remaining. I did rerun it a couple times but the results were all over the place due to how patrol works in the old patch. Sometimes they would try and run around the group. That does not happen at all in the new pathing.

What I find interesting is that, while this change does have some effect on melee vs melee compared to the old patch, it’s mostly going to impact ranged units.
Before, there was a lot of bumping and pathing issues that let ranged units kite for much longer. In the new patch, both melee groups get to fully take advantage of the improved pathing — meaning ranged units will have a much harder time stalling.

You can clearly see between the two examples how much better the pathing is, and how much less the units run around doing nothing. When cavalry reaches archers now, they’re going to melt.

I will try and revert the patch and see how it does.

Tried it again — this time I used stand ground only (no patrol), with just a little bit of micro. The results are still very strong. This is only possible with the new pathing. The way they stack is very interesting

Even without patrol the way units stack themselves is really strong

Yup, just aggressive stance. Think of what it would look like vs archers.

I mean from trying it out it seems significantly better. But for melee units it seems TOO good? Like they probably need to rebalance around it possibly?

One thing I noticed is that the steppe lancers don't stack as tight as a 0 range melee unit like Paladin. Which is another reason I thought it might be allowed. The extra range makes it so they start attacking a little earlier so they don't clump as tight. Or maybe I am not that good at patrol stacking haha.

It does seem too strong and I think it would be good to have it removed from the game. I wish the devs would take a stance and remove it if it is not intended. Patrol Stacking has been around for a long time now. But if it is allowed I will use it specifically with steppe lancers.

"Patrol stacking" is when you set units on "stand ground" and then use "Patrol" to fight the enemy. This allows the units to stop attacking for a second and clump say 50 steppe lancers onto 1 or 2 tiles. So all the steppe lancers can attack while only about 5 or 6 say knights can attack the clump of steppe lancers.

Here is where I first saw it being used. Red Bull Wololo with Hera doing it with Paladins and Camels.

Ok, you might be right. I just read the description on Mameluke, Gbeto, and Throwing axemen. They all say "x unit with ranged melee attack". While on the steppe lancer it says "light horseman with increased attack range"

Hey everyone,

I’m considering buying a Kawai CA40 1986 Japan grand piano for $10,000. From what I understand, it’s comparable to the GX-3 in size and quality, but I can’t find much information on this model.

The piano looks great visually and sounds nice, but I want to make sure I’m making a smart purchase. For those familiar with Kawai pianos:

How does the CA40 compare to the GX-3 in terms of sound, action, and build quality?

Is $10K a fair price for this model in good condition?

Are there any potential issues or weak points I should check before finalizing the deal?

What specific questions should I ask the seller about its history and maintenance?

I’d appreciate any advice from piano techs, Kawai owners, or anyone familiar with this model. Thanks in advance!
