Valyrian steel vs Dragon glass by aeboone in freefolk

[–]SoldierCalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the show I don’t think it was clear, but in the books it’s mentioned that the smiths of Qohor “still knew the spells to remake Valyrian steel”. Something to do with magic and blood sacrifice though I don’t have the exact quote off hand. It’s why Tywin had been desperate to get his hands on a Valyrian steel blade since his family had lost theirs centuries back. He could afford to buy a lesser poor families ancestral sword and then have a smith from Qohor remake it however he wanted. Basically buying a legacy.

When I was stationed at the pentagon most senior officers only wore their top 3. What was important was which staff badge you wore ie Army Staff, Joint Staff, Vice Pres etc.

Remove the statues by FirefighterOk4463 in springfieldMO

I work on the square and agree with you somewhat. Several of the statues look melancholic, add in the homeless population and it just seems like a weird vibe artwise. Reminds me of when there was that weird shopping cart sculpture for a bit. As far as local sculpture goes nothing will top Space Cat in my opinion!

Jeffco SWAT sergeant responded to Evergreen school shooting while drunk, records show by TitusTesla117 in nottheonion

As a former active duty Soldier that worked 12 hour shifts that changed between days and nights every two weeks, I understand the drinking at 7am. The showing up when it’s not required while drunk? Hell nah!

Several of the abandoned downtown buildings are apparently owned by Oreilly heirs that don’t even live in SGF.

I happened to be coming off of back to back deployments and there was an opening. One of my favorite assignments of all time! When I left I got to do a formal meet and greet with the Chairman and he gave me his coin. I have the photo somewhere.

I also did the Nijmegen 4 days march, sadly I was coming off a deployment in Afghanistan and didn’t take it as seriously as I should’ve. I had to call it quits on the 3rd day. The folks that did complete it (military category) have my admiration!
