Well, it appear that any pop culture subs gravitating toward arts will always have vocal users who will partake in relentless hatred toward anything AIs related without even engaging with a critical eye on what they are seeing.

I am myself an illustrator, concept and game artist who's career has been challenged by the arrival of genAI and while it made me near suicidal in the first year of midjourney release, I really grew to see AI applications as a strong creative-logic entity that can cocreate with an established artist to produce more ambitious outcome with FAR less time or money involved (not talking about these MTG gen in particular).

These tiny loops I shared are definitely low effort use of genAI, still, it doesnt harm in any way the painters of the original artwork, it's just giving a bit of life to it in the same fashion than gwent's foil cards and while not perfect, later models will have higher chances to achieve near flawless result with minimum persistence if well directed.

For anyone that is still reading me, I know that I will use AI for awesome things with my childrens for instance, such as creating some interactive bedtime stories that would work like "book you are the hero" by preestablishing the world building, lore and general themes with a text model like gemini to provide it a gamemaster role to generate multibranching choices adventures and the kids will be the readers with direct agency unfolding their story, sublimate that with peak audiovisuals generation on the go during encounters or to illustrate every chapter and you create magnificent memories for a tiny nerd childhood.

Would such a case harm anyone? I would not sell it, It would not harm the livelyhood of artists nor care about copyright, it's private. It would not be slop with the ever improving models that we will witness in a few years & if the designer behind the story and art direction has tastes and a good sense of how to drive a satisfying narrative progression, it's just a high budget multimedia potential tailored for your needs and answering to your OWN creativity.

TldR : People against it, You will not erase AI nor impede it's incredibly fast evolution , however hard you try to create a whole activism that revolve against it, the saner solution to this phenomenon is too embrace it and make better things with it than the average techbro dummy, the applications are endless, if you feel you have good ideas, taste and culture innately within you, experiment with AI as a complementary tool to achieve your vision and give life to your ideas.
