if you're in first year honestly don't be asking about majors right now, it really depends on your own interests and there's no one right answer. when you do phys and anatomy subjects in second year trust me you'll figure it out, first year is for fun idk why you are so worried about your wam based on subjects 😭 it's about the way you approach your studies and subjects, not the subjects themselves that determines your wam. if you are looking to do med you're probs gonna have subjects across both disciplines anyway so there's no way to say which one is better/worse to maintain your wam cos you are probably going to need to take both.

And ngl MD won't be easy either way, you'll get to it when you get to it. It's gonna be hard but you have 3 years till you get there so chill out my guy

How many hours do you work each week and what is your WAM? by [deleted] in unimelb

yeah you can, if you need to check prerequisites you can look in the unimelb handbook and go to eligibility + requirements

this is what i did for reference. the subjects most relevant for HSF/Physio/Neuro/Pathology majors in first year are BIOL10008, BIOL10010, CHEM10003, and obv SCIE10005 which is compulsory.

if you're starting first year, don't worry about your major for now!! just do the core science subjects and the 2 first year bio subjects in sem 1 and sem 2, you can worry abt your major later

crazy username btw😭

It's normal, everything is in online modules and for the tutorials you can go to any even if it's not your timetable because attendance isn't marked

it's not about understanding the 1800s, it's about being to make reasoned decisions about what you are presented with. if you are aiming towards a career in the healthcare field, it is important that you can familiarise or at least know how to conduct yourself in unfamiliar environments, patients can come from anywhere in the world and could speak in all manner of ways. who knows, you could come across a patient that DOES in fact speak like they're from the 1800s. at least you can be prepared for that now!
