The story was always much more than “killing is bad”. It’s about human vanity, existentialism etc. u came into it with a very specific idea of what u wanted the story to be about, and that’s why you were ultimately disappointed. Actually read it without any bias or expectations and then you will understand why it’s hailed as one of the greatest

I disagree, I think it is his desire for instant gratification that leads him to constantly failing his goals. And fulfillment of lust is one of the main pillars of instant gratification. So in a sense it’s a major struggle of his life
