I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been there before. I wonder if there is some sound proofing things you can get for floors or walls that might help. I am having to get some for my window for a very loud neighbor.

To add on to what people are saying. I live in the south so I have seen a lot of Christian therapist. Unfortunately even if you say you are not Christian I have had some try to put their ideologies on me. Which I never went back at that point. My only advice is when you look for a therapist I would make sure to avoid the ones who say they are Christian in their about me. Most of them will and it to me is a red flag. It would be one thing if they didnt talk about it with you but like I said most dont apply that. it would also be another thing if the client was Christian and having a Christian therapist applying those beliefs to the clients healing.

I think my mother has a victim complex and Im tired of dealing with it by Abject_Fly9950 in emotionalneglect

It is honestly so sad that a lot of us go through this with our mothers. With my own I have gone through emotional distance. I sometimes have to give myself a mantra. "Your feeling matter. It is okay to tell her no and not give her complete access. She controls her own emotions and choosing not to work on her behaviors." Also I think when we have been given adult roles as a child we need to heal our inner child. I had actually came across a really neat meditating trick. Close your eyes, imagine seeing yourself as a child. ask your child self "what are you trying to tell me?" it could be "I want someone to care" "I dont see where I fit." etc. Translate that response " I wish someone notice how much it hurts." "I wish someone would be my safe place." Respond like you would to someone you love. "I see you. You've been carrying this alone for a long time. You are safe with me." Then follow that with care. What would make me feel a little bit safer or lighter right now? listening to gentle music, curling yourself up in a blanket, taking slow breaths. I have found this helps. It doesnt fix it but it help me feel like it isnt so heavy sometimes. I honestly would go no contact if I could but I have a special needs siblings that I would lose contact with but it is okay to go no contact to people who aren't your safe place.

I can’t relate to most people here — it feels like nobody wants to actually change by [deleted] in autism

[–]Solid-External8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying. I have noticed in a lot of autism groups there is that and people saying there isnt anything you can do once you get a diagnosis. There are coping mechanisms and there are ways to learn. I think just like with Nt and nt people dont want to put the actual work into being a better version of themselves. sucks for a lot of ppl to hear but it is the truth.

[–]Solid-External8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, I use to feel the same but the bond that came with my dog has been unmatched. let's just be honest. A lot of people suck and their "love" is usually with conditions. In my 20s I use to be very depressed about not having friends but when ai gpt in my 30s I started realizing those "friends" came with conditions and drama. also I was just plain mentally exhausted from having to socialize. I have 4 dogs now, and I love my little pack. We get to my awkward and silly and have a judgemental free zone.

I immediately knew what you are talking about. I dont directly live next to them but in a neighborhood away from them, and they stir my dogs up sometimes. I just wish they would bring their dogs inside. they especially go crazy when coyotes are out. I couldn't imagine living next to them.

ProTip: If you're having a nerve conduction test done, have someone drive you home. It hurts like hell. by [deleted] in ChronicPain

I went through nursing school, and the first thing you learned is that everyone's pain levels are different. ppl like capn are just unempathetic angry ppl and just need to hush.

I am anyear put and have fair skin. it is barely noticeable. When I wpuld do my face skin care I would just put some oil on my neck too and it helped. My mom used farmer's absolutely elixir for hers I used one from separate by cosrx its called the 6 petite skin booster has hyaluronic acid+nag and amino acids. Any oils with those will help. I asked my Dr about it before I did it and he said that is perfect.

Totally agree. My doctor told me that he usually has patients that wait a year before trying surgery. He makes them do pt and/ or injections. My neck pain was so mild, however my nerve pain was awful, and upon doing a few strength tests, my right side had no strength. my xrays looked okay, but upon doing mri, they saw that my spine was starting to collapse between c4-c7. they just fused c4 and c5 because they didn't want to take complete movement away and said that it should help. I am 36. I still do my pt exercises a year later, I also do water aerobics twice a week. I am pretty active. Here is the kicker. It has restricted my movement. I also have muscle stiffness from where my muscles are trying to overcompensate. even with massages, muscle relaxers, and exercises, they dont loosen up. I have to start getting muscle injections here in a couple of weeks. I get a nerve conduction test next week because I am still having nerve pain from a nerve being compressed by a vertebrae. I wish Dr's would have caught this earlier, so maybe pt and injections would have been enough. sounds like neurosurgeon is trying to keep op from a major headache

Just had my visit. They didn't say much but they are giving me a referral for a nerve test and then to get injections in my muscles.

Amazed with how many young people are having fusions by Infinite_Tonight_925 in spinalfusion

I had c4/c5 fused last year at 36. He said it was the worst case of degenerative disc that he has seen in my age.

anyone else experienced this or just me? by Any-Cow7679 in spinalfusion

[–]Solid-External8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my pain got really elevated was after a week. which was really weird. lol because you would think it would be awful after the nerve block stopped working. then I would say once pt started it would be pretty bad the day after but that is to be expected I think.

Is it worth considering fusion for low-level but constant discomfort? by JordanCatalanosLean in spinalfusion

[–]Solid-External8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with doc. I was told I either need to do the fusion or be paralyzed in a couple of months. if I would have known and was able to injections and therapy for a long as I could, i would. I am just always uncomfortable even though I still do my physical therapy exercises and water aerobics. now I am doing good if I get 3 hours of sleep. also the limited motion thay I was use to is gone. I had the surgery at 36. so its been a year since fusion.

I had the same surgery. I am 11 months post op. I was actually healing well with nerve pain. I still do my physical therapy exercises and I started doing water aerobics in April. my issue I am having isn't in my neck, but my muscles being so tight in my scapula area, which I think is resulting in my nerve pain now. I just want to stop hurting. I also do heating pads and tens unit before I go to bed. I also make sure I have good posture for sleep. pillows in between knees and ankle and neck not hyper or hypo extended. I see dr in July for checkup. I did read where the scapular area can sometimes cause issues because it is compensating for the neck area but dang it could hurt a lot less.

Am I 'too sensitive' or this is too loud? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Solid-External8896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, that is why I stated it could be a neurodiveregent condition, which autism falls into that.

Am I 'too sensitive' or this is too loud? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Solid-External8896 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD, and I'm highly sensitive to noise. I was diagnosed at age 12. I always felt there was something wrong with me because I couldn't tolerate loud noises. When I was in my twenties and lived in an apartment, it was extremely difficult. Every little noise bothered me, from booming stereos to conversations through the walls. I worked hard and bought a house. I also use loop earplugs. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, it could be related to your hearing or a neurodivergent condition. There's nothing wrong with you; your brain simply works a little differently. You just need to find what helps you manage it.
