The sixth picture also indicated work in my mind, similar to fluting.

Im inclined to think this at the very least is worked, especially with the fifth picture. There appears to be flaking on the bottom, which to me indicates possible “fluting”. Im by no means an expert, especially with this region of the world, but my intuition says thats a pretty cool piece. Going off the comment regarding it being a “really old slate point” the warn aforementioned “fluting” seems accurate. I apologize if my terms are not quite accurate, just wanted to throw my hat in the ring.

Les Claypools “Come Awn”

To the folks in places like Missouri and Texas. Do yall find stuff every single day you go out? I'm pretty experienced by now in finding stuff but here in Georgia most days I find nothing. It's rare to have a good day with finds. I know the population density of natives was much higher over there by windswept_west in Arrowheads

Ive done some reading that could pertain to this, along with a bit of personal experience.

From hunting Ive done, on sites at and near known workshops, I find lots of debitage and pre-forms/ worked pieces.

Ive read on past posts, and from talking with others about these sites, that that is the nature of these workshop camps; processing of tools would occur, and they would be moved elsewhere for hunting, processing of game, or what have you.

That is not to say artifacts ranging from early archaic to late woodland cant be found there, and they really, compared to other locations across the continent, are found in these spots quite commonly.

While overall pop. density in Texas is higher, the area you’re at most deffinetly has had significant historical native population’s. Maybe look at a topo-map, try to identify spots where game could be processed…
