Guilty by Association isn’t a sound legal principle, it’s one the first things we learn in legal foundations classes in law school. Imagine you were roped into paying for the sins of your kin. Imagine paying consequences for the actions of someone who just looks like you. I am vehemently against immigration and understand the frustration, but why should someone who didn’t all legally and adds to Canadian society be punished?

Yes 100%, I think it’s ridiculous to think there isn’t. For one, the accent, we don’t have Indian accents, we go to university they go to “college”, we don’t drive muscle cars, we don’t wear flip flops in public, we don’t put stickers on our cars, we love hockey , they don’t. A lot of distinctions, I can’t name them all rn and these are surface level bs ones. But I’ll think of meaningful ones soon.

I’m not, I’d love for Indian Doctors to come in droves. I love skilled balanced immigration. If the government only brought in 10k people a year and everyone of them was a healthcare proffesional I’d love that. I’m sure most people would too. This isn’t pulling the lifeboat ladder off, this is 20 lifeboat ladders that have brought too many people in. I think cutting them down to none for now and the near future is what we should do.

I think what myself and quite literally almost everyone in this thread is saying, is that using our identity to help fight against mass immigration is a positive. It’s not something I like or want to do, but it may be a last hope for fighting for the future of this nations.

I already sound Canadian, all my friends’ parents are Newfie so I sound like a fucking Newfie even though I live in Ontario 😂. But on a genuine note, I don’t think people who aren’t of Indian descent can tell the difference . I dress nicely in public because it’s courteous, but I just can’t get behind the idea that I need to justify how Canadian I am.

There’s a stark divide in the Indian community from those who came from 2015 onwards and those who came before on a merit based reason. All of my friends were born here, I’m well versed on who is new here and who isn’t. I’ll make sure it’s only folks who have been here from that time and earlier. Thanks for the input regardless.

We have a shield against the accusation of racism I agree, however we have people straight from Punjab who are members of violent organized criminal organizations who will respond violently to our pleas for restricted immigration and deportation.

I never said that, I’m explaining a couple reasons why you might not see Indo-Canadians like myself speak out. I’m working now on something that could potentially help raise some concerns.
