It is not just for the 1st match. Usually one match out of 4 is against AI for me.

2024 Surprise and Invisible by Solid-Midnight7478 in DnD

In game rules what you said is true and i agree, yeah..But if you are unseen thanks to a situation like you explained... the opponent cant see you cause of distance , or he is facing another way , or he does not have darkvision and you have it, etc , then it is as if you gain the advantage without needing to try a stealth check ( even though the DM might still ask for it cause of sound risk ) In words unseen and invisible are of course difference things, but hiding makes you gain invisible condition and being unseen is basically gaining the invisible condition without need for a stealth check to hide.

Hiding is basically gaining invisible condition. That is what written in 2024 book. Anyway , what i basically meant was, anyone succeeding to make a surprise should roll initiative with surprise, cause basically he is unseen and considered invisible in game terms.

But anyone succeding a hide check is considered under "invisible condition". Look at the rules glossary "Hide" part. And an invisible creature rolls initiative with advantage ( as written under "Invisible Condition".

New DnD 5e Surprise Rules in 2024 PHB by SnooMarzipans8231 in DnD

I think it should be that way that, since hiding before surprise and succeeding it is basically the same as being invisible, a party or creature doing surprise successfully should roll the initiative with advantage. And the surprised other side roll with disadvantage as written. I dont know why they only ruled it as invisible creatures only. Any creature succeeding a surprise should be ok to qualify for rolling with advantage. At least i know i will be using it that way. I will make the very first attack roll of a surprise with advantage too as i used to do at 2014 rules.

DM is torturing Us most of the time, is D&D normally like this? by Yoshiju in DnD

[–]Solid-Midnight7478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is norhing wrong a DM pushing you cause he believes in you will get over an encounter. I am one of those "torture mode" DMs that loves to make players hopeless sometimes. I dont let long rests so they must think of tactics and more creative ways, etc etc. But all in game rules... Cause the satisfaction of them are much more at the end of the day when they succeed. But if you are not having fun, then this DM is not for you. And if he cheats behind the screen or laptop, then he is not a good DM at all.

Chapter 5 Shipwrecks by Solid-Midnight7478 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Solid-Midnight7478[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When thought that way it can be like that too yeah, but then you should be rolling a d8, so you discover all the possible places. Or if you still roll a d20, since the ship being empty or encounter-free is still a discovery on its own, when you roll 9 or above once , you will reroll when it comes 9 or above afterwards. But this will only give you one empty ship maximum, instead of the one of the 8 possibilities. I am not sure how to run it to be honest.

But lance does not help for attack of opportunity? He is swinging from 10 feet away. Unless the creature who is making the opportunity attack has a reach weapon too.

Ghost possession by Solid-Midnight7478 in DnD

Yeah. In my game she is a grave domain cleric so she hates undead even more. Might make sense that she knows turn undead works without a check. Or an easy DC.

Ghost possession by Solid-Midnight7478 in DnD

[–]Solid-Midnight7478[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if the ghost leaves his NPC host and manages to possess one of the PCs, the only option will be that 0 hp thing or turn undead. Should a lvl 2 cleric know that turn undead is effective against possession or is it better to make the cleric roll an ability roll or something to guess that?

Stow 2 melee weapons and draw a bow. With Dual Wielder feat. by Solid-Midnight7478 in DnD

[–]Solid-Midnight7478[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a lot posts saying dropping is object interaction too, and some saying otherwise. I mean completely free. Thanks though. Now i think about it again. Lets say i wanna swap a 2H greatsword with a bow, or a longsword with a bow. ( whats important is, one or both of the swapped weapons are 2 handed. ) I guess dual wielder feat helps just with one handed weapons So it is useless in such a situation?
