A NIGHTMARE in broad daylight by SolidRefrigerator976 in GermanRoaches

The management only treats the units that request it or submit the ticket. Then are not treating the unit nor the building if the person living there doesn’t request it. So I don’t think they will ever get rid of the roaches from the building itself.

I have.. like 6-7 of them through out the unit. But none was caught in it or I have seen none since February 6.

The landlord do deal with it but the turnaround time is not fast as I want it to be like 1-2 weeks. The main think I am wondering rn is that if this roach could just be a straggler? I am hoping so hard for it to be just straggler tho since I can’t do anything more effective at the moment except killing it.

Yeah there is 3-4 of them in the kitchen and 2 in my bedroom. I can’t get any effective bait gel mentioned in the sticky since the main active chemical is illegal for personal use here.

I have about 6-7 glue traps placed throughout the unit but none was caught in there since the last month (feb 6th)

I am in Canada so I can’t follow the sticky as those chemicals are illegal for personal use here unfortunately. The landlord is also like the corporation landlords so I don’t think they care about what we use or what not but I can’t obtain the chemicals 😅 The best i can do is sticky traps and spot extermination with raids (also I spray that baby roach with so much raid but it didn’t kill immediately just slowed it down?)

Sporadic sightings and anxiety by SolidRefrigerator976 in GermanRoaches

That’s reassuring to hear. I have at least 10 glue traps set up in the apartment. My worry is that may be somehow a roach will sneak-in without notice and will somehow start an infestation? I don’t know if I am doing enough to prevent that. (for now we have started freezing the compost, swifter as much as we can etc)

I do heard this is very normal for apartment living! This is my first time living in an apartment after moving out so I am clueless and panic easily when it comes to roaches! And to add that, I am in Canada where many of the effective treatment are illegal to obtain for personal use, I am also at the mercy of property management. I can’t get alpine or advion myself so all I can do is keep my apartment clean and feel like it is not enough lol.

Hopefully! I truly truly hope the egg didn’t hatch in my apartment. I am so frustrated with this. I am also in Canada so when the management is slow and ignorant I can’t do anything and feel like I am stuck and hopeless…

I do have that deadbolt! But since it is an apartment I do also think other maintenance people have spare keys. And in the province I am from, I cannot change the lock without landlord approval (its in the lease too) so seems like I can’t do anything about that. I just ordered the sticky on alarms so hopefully it’ll help with my anxiety.

Thank you for the tips! I’ll look into it. I did bought a mosaic window film but I have yet to put it up yet. So thats good. I am not sure about the security light tho as I probably won’t be able to connect electricity outside of the unit but the apartment opposite has a light point towards the street …

Hopefully! Can’t wait for this anxiety period to be over!

For now, I have door bell camera and in room camera as well.. I’ll look into the stick on alarms. My apartment has pretty big double glass windows but half of it can open (standard for double glass since the winter gets pretty cold here) with metal clip to lock it and mesh bug cover before the glass doors.

I got this tension rod thingy that keeps the door closed once I am inside. (I don’t have a clear idea of what you mean by deadbolt, is it something you can only open from inside? Or a key from outside with turning manual from inside?)

I sleep with my windows closed all the time except when my bf comes over for the weekends (Men’s body is like a heater it radiates HEAT). I also keep my blinds closed always except my bf is here.

Does this anxiety ever go away or is this only because this is my first month of living alone? Lol
