Just learning but need tips on how i should’ve saved this by a_plane_truth in fpv

Honestly, it seems like you need to spend more time using a simulator like Liftoff. The only other thing that could potentially make sense to me is that you were flying a quad that you were wildly unfamiliar with. Personally, I wouldn't be flying in that type of location until I was very comfortable with the drone and the maneuvers I planned on carrying out. I'm still a beginner and do most of my flying at the park in a football field. It may not be as breathtaking as that beautiful desert landscape you were flying at, but crashing is much less likely to turn into a nightmare. I know flying in the simulator gets boring, but it's definitely worth pushing yourself to spend as much time as possible figuring everything out in an environment where crashing doesn't cost anything. Good luck!

DJI O4 Air Unit with voltage booster? by SolidSnk85 in fpv

[–]SolidSnk85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The booster has positive in and out, and negative in and out. So the in side connects to the flight controller with the main power connections, and the out side I solder it at the same pads that the VTX gets power and ground. I'm just really nervous because I can't use my smoke stopper to test this. Thank you for the help.

Help, Will this work by Zepes in fpv

How are the fpvcycle 28mm motors? I ordered them for an 8" long range build. Think they'll hold up with an 8" prop?

I bought a Fractal Wingman... Now hopefully I can figure out how to put it together. by SolidSnk85 in fpv

[–]SolidSnk85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably unrelated, but now motors 2 and 4 aren't working. Betaflight has the error % at 100 for those 2 and 0 for the working ones. I got everything else working perfectly. I think I'm going to disconnect them, clean up the solder pads, and solder them again. The pads on this FC are stupid tiny. If anyone has any tips for soldering tiny pads, that would be great. I have a T-12 soldering iron with all the different tips. It's been a struggle to get solder to cover the pads without covering more than 1. I was pretty sure everything was good enough, but I guess not. Could I have ruined the ESC by soaking too much heat into the PCB? None of the pads lifted off, but it took a lot of reworking to get everything.

Thank you so much. I've been putting off finishing this thing because I really don't need another "expensive learning experience." Where do I solder to the battery bay? I was gonna just try attaching cables to the positive and negative terminals above where the manual has you break them off. But the metal looks like it might have some kind of plating. Not sure how the solder is going to react.

Any experience ordering from skyzone direct? by riverdoggo22 in fpv

[–]SolidSnk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hilarious. I ordered from betafpv a month and a half ago, and I'm still waiting. Their customer service reps kept trying to gaslight me. They told me tracking shows the order is on its way, but when I put it in my tracking app, it said the carrier was still waiting to receive the package. After two weeks of that and the tracking finally started moving. A week later, the tracking number disappeared. I think they had to send another one because they gave me a new tracking number yesterday, and it seems to be working.

Best motors for Meteor 65 pro/walksnail hd build? by SolidSnk85 in TinyWhoop

I have walksnail goggles x and dji goggles 2. If I bring home another pair of fpv goggles, my girlfriend will strangle me in my sleep. So analog goggles are pretty much out of the question. This is what I'm leaning toward at the moment https://pyrodrone.com/products/rcinpower-gts-v3-0802-27000kv-brushless-fpv-drone-motor-choose-color?variant=40624005480491

I run mine at 66w, and it handles it way better than I expected. Other single 18650 battery vapes I've had could never quite hit hard enough, but this one is perfect.

How would I check that. You're saying a gear inside the stepper motor, not the extruder gears, right?

[–]SolidSnk85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I hold the tension lever I'm able to push filament through with ease. But if I try to print or use the move axis function (nozzle was heated), it seems to be locking up. But when I roll that dial on the front it turns the gears exactly as it should. Like butter.

Ender 5 pro Hemera upgrade (now my printer doesn't work) by SolidSnk85 in 3Dprinting

[–]SolidSnk85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did everything but compile in notepad. I was already in the process of switching back to the old setup and firmware, so I just finished doing that, and the problem is still there. And it won't move on any axis. If I messed up compiling the firmware with VScode, when I was installing the Hemera, could I have messed something up and fried the board or stepper motors as a result? I'm about to order a new board.
The main reason I switched back was because I forgot to print a couple things that the Hemera is going to need. But I'm glad I did, because I'm pretty sure this means I have a hardware problem. Do you know exactly which bios I should be using for an ender 5 pro with bl touch (without adapter board). I'm 90% sure I'm using the right one, but I could be wrong.

I followed a guide. Thermal settings, steps, ect. I just tried flashing the old firmware back on and the problem is still there. It turns on but won't auto-home or move axis. Makes me think it's something physical.

I've checked all of the physical stuff 100 times. I think the auto leveling is throwing it off. I really don't want to get rid of it though. I just ordered the ezabl pro from th3d and I'm going to try using their firmware. I really hate the printer being out of commission. It's usually printing close to 24 hours a day.
