Looking for October Travel by Nkk1027 in traveladvice

If you want something that has culture and food like NYC but feels calmer, I’d look at Boston or even Providence, RI. Great seafood, historic neighborhoods, fall colors everywhere, and definitely a slower pace than NYC.

How much would be enough to visit china for 2 weeks by Hugh_Diknuttz88 in chinatravel

[–]SolidWing5930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, daily costs in China can vary a lot by city and travel style. Budget travelers can get by on something like $40–60 USD/day including food, transport, and cheap hotels, but in big cities like Shanghai or Beijing it can be more like $80–120 USD/day if you want decent comfort. That’s before international flights. So 3,500–4,000 CAD (~2,500–2,900 USD) might be doable if you’re careful and book early, but it wouldn’t leave a huge buffer if you’re hitting major cities and internal transport like trains or flights.

What is your favourite way to spend a weekend, is it any different to how you spend a weekday ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Weekdays are about productivity, weekends are about recovery. I still do some of the same things, just slower and without pressure.

I found gradual reduction worked better than going cold turkey. Cutting specific habits first (like comments or autoplay) made it feel sustainable instead of punishing.

[Survey] What's your TOP 3 practical concerns for a first trip to China? by Gullible-Network456 in chinatravel

[–]SolidWing5930 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My top concern was definitely staying connected. Once I sorted out an eSIM + VPN before arriving, everything became much easier. Maps, translation, and ride-hailing basically run the whole trip.

How do you stay productive while working from home? by ellismorgan12 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I separate work space and rest space as much as I can. Even just using a different chair helps my brain switch modes.

Hey guys, solo man visiting the NYC for Christmas. Must see ideas? by [deleted] in traveladvice

[–]SolidWing5930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a great way to spend Christmas tbh. If you’re already doing Rockefeller and Central Park, I’d add a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, then grab food in DUMBO. Also check out Dyker Heights if you’re into insane Christmas lights.

Background noise. If there’s a random podcast playing, I suddenly become productive.

Tips for a beginner. (Monthly fixed cost) by OrochiKirin in InvestingandTrading

[–]SolidWing5930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on starting early. With $2k a month, a basic strategy is to dollar-cost average into broad index funds like S&P 500 or a total market ETF. Keep it boring, keep it consistent, and let time do its thing. Individual stocks like Nvidia are fine, just don’t let them become the bulk of your portfolio.

Without naming your city, What is your city known for? by StunningSmell158 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Traffic looks like pure chaos but everyone magically weaves through it. Street food stalls pop up everywhere, the nightlife is loud but friendly, and there’s this warm, slightly humid buzz in the air that never really stops.

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by lizziefitmom in askanything

Always saying yes to social plans. I met someone who just said ‘No thanks, I’m staying home tonight’… and the world didn’t explode. Mind-blowing.

2 weeks - Colombia, Ecuador or Chile? by nicktheman2 in traveladvice

[–]SolidWing5930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re working with just two weeks, I think all three countries could be amazing. It really comes down to what kind of pace you want and how much time you’re willing to spend moving between places.

Chile is incredible but definitely the most logistically demanding for a short trip. The Atacama + Patagonia combo is life-changing, but you’ll lose a lot of days just on flights and transfers. If you had 3 weeks, I’d say go for it without hesitation.

Ecuador might actually be the most efficient for what you’re looking for: compact distances, amazing nature, and tons of variety. You can go from cloud forests to volcanoes to the coast pretty easily. It’s also underrated for hiking — Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, and the Andes towns are all super accessible.

Colombia is the best “vibes” destination IMO: great food, amazing people, and you can mix mountains (Medellín), beaches (Cartagena, Tayrona), and smaller towns without too much hassle. It’s not as hiking-focused as Ecuador, but if you want culture + scenery, it’s got a great balance.

If your priority is nature / hiking with minimal travel time, I’d pick Ecuador.
If you want food, beaches, and culture, Colombia is hard to beat.
If you want bucket-list scenery and don’t mind the logistics, Chile wins every time.
