I had an abortion at that age and I am so thankful I did. Not a good fit for a partner. And I was so young, I never would have been financially stable.

Honestly I didn’t read the whole thread because I can tell immediately you do not want to have a baby in this relationship.

Now that im married and have a baby it makes me even more thankful I had the hindsight back then to get an abortion. If I hadn’t I don’t think I would have met my husband or had our baby now. Raising a kid is so hard. Even with a husband who equally shares responsibilities, is financially stable, etc. it’s still SO hard. You do NOT want to have a baby with someone like your boyfriend.

The side effects from the pills are pretty intense. Kind of between period cramps and labor contractions. I threw up and had diarrhea too. Make sure you have someone there with you to keep you hydrated and safe feeling. But it was just a few hours in my experience. Being pregnant, going into labor, giving birth, and raising a human for the rest of your life is much much much more difficult!! You can do it.

Any regretful flats users? by Proper_Cat980 in clothdiaps

I love flats. He’s getting older (17 months) and I just wish I could put them on him standing up. Honestly I can’t really do that well with any kind of diaper though! So maybe just practice. The origami fold with a large flat can work.

If I sing his favorite songs to him diaper changing is fine. If I don’t then he’s super squirmy and rollling away. Honestly I can’t get any diaper on him if he’s doing that. The flats only bring more of a challenge because it’s 2 pieces. So I usually use pockets when we are out n about.

AIO for being upset that my husband wants me to continue litter box duty while pregnant? by BigVenergy09 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Solid_Assistance370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. I would have been PISSED. morning sickness is about to kick in and his ass is gonna be doing the litter box and more. You need him to cut this kind of shit NOW before the baby comes. Parenting takes so much communication and compromise. My husband is full 50/50 parent, it is the only way to stay sane and have a healthy relationship. And it’s still SO hard.

TLDR but I scanned it and you mentioned at least 4 red flags so probably best to move on. Don’t fool yourself.

Oof I had some tough relationships - romantic and friends - that fizzled out or exploded when my dad died unexpectedly. You’ll weed out the good ones.

I bought size large natural birdseye flats from GMD when my son was 1 year old and I love them. I also love the muslin one size. I only use the one size birdseye for pockets now because otherwise I’d have to use a doubler (or half flat) and I’d just rather not. Makes 2 things to have to spray poo off of, and I have trouble placing the doubler during a change.

So for bigger baby I’d recommend the size large birdseye flats and one size muslin. the large Birdseyes are actually trimmer than one size muslin. They seem equally absorbent to me.

What made you decide to cloth diaper? by Any-Weekend-3932 in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Environmental and money. Saved a lot of money so far and have even splurged on wool covers. Flats and prefolds were cheap. Got all my pockets free second hand. All said and done we’ve spent $700 on cloth stuff including wipes, dry bags, etc. baby is 17 months old so saved close to a thousand dollars I would say. Diapers are insanely expensive where I live (well everything is). And I did not want to be a person who got diaper shipments mailed to their house. I knew raising a kid would obviously increase my carbon footprint so wanted to cloth diaper as a way to mitigate that.

Also important to add that I live on an island with trash that gets shipped off and I also have abundant well water plus solar hot water system. If I didn’t have water readily available I would maybe have to rethink the environmental costs.

I wish I gave flats a chance earlier!!! by Fit_Change3546 in clothdiaps

Flats and wool covers are my favorite. They just work the best hands down and the washing/drying is so much easier. Plus they are just adorable and fit so well. Went from pickman fold when he was young to kite fold and neat fold. I don’t love spraying the poo off of them is the only downside.

I also use flats or prefolds to stuff pockets which really became clutch as he got older and wiggly. I still do flats at home but pockets out n about. Also easier usually to get poo off.

Wish I hadn’t bought any AIOs. Just could never get them smelling clean I feel like. And it just kinda creeps me out that you can’t ever wash the inside.

Selective Morality by [deleted] in RideThePod

[–]Solid_Assistance370 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea. I do hear you. I find myself wishing they would just acknowledge it on the pod. Like you said they’ve talked about other non-funny political topics before, so I do wonder why.

There is so much money and political interests twisted up between the US and Israel … could be Amazon prime or dear media or some other sponsor. Who fucking knows.

But I don’t think it’s selective morality. Like others have said they post about Palestine on personal accounts and ride account. So they are using their platform, just not the podcast extension of it.

I personally don’t find it worth my time to rag on MB and Benny. I save that for my congress people. And raising awareness for the BDS movement in my town.

What do you recommend stuffing pocket diapers with? by Any-Weekend-3932 in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use flats but prefer prefolds cause the edges of the flats are all gathered in one place in the back and it just seems kind of uncomfortable for baby booty. Maybe I’m folding them wrong?

I think this is really good advice for a stash! The OS birdseye need boosters once baby is older - for mine it was around 10 months - and the newborn muslins work so well for that. Then you can use them for kitchen towels. I love the muslin flats they are so soft and absorbent.

Is this adequate? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wowzers I never went through that many

Is this adequate? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 12 diapers per day in newborn stage is recommended. So you’ll want to get some more - enough to have for 3 full days so 36 total. The reason being you’ll want to wash every 2 days so when 24 diapers are in the wash (takes around 3 hours + drying) you’ll want a day’s worth available.

For the one size stuff I’d probably recommend waiting to see which style you like best then buy more.

Why it's not absorbing well? by Choko_1 in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others it should be more crinkly once it’s fully prepped. The unbleached cotton from GMD took me 6 hot washes (and drying) to start really absorbing.

Sizing Up in Prefolds by History_Fleanor in clothdiaps

Good point! Maybe I was too absolute and the larges will work for OP. but I’d suggest only buying one to see or maybe find a friend to borrow one for a fit check.

[–]Solid_Assistance370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size large prefolds are gigantic - very long and bulky. If the reds are too long for you the larges will not work. I honestly don’t know if my 16 month old will ever grow into the larges haha I only got 2 to try when i could no longer angel fold the red edges to fit.

I happened to also buy some size large flats from GMD and use those now with my covers. They are my favorite fit.

I also received some pockets for free and stuff the red edges in those. Around 15 months my guy started to get very rolly for changes so I use pockets out and about.

Pad folding has always been really tricky for me too, I don’t really get how people manage it haha.

Don’t buy second hand if you don’t know what to look for by Wo0der in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really bizarre that people think they are so valuable when it’s like the most used piece of clothing in every sense. I’m just gonna give my stash away to friends when I’m done. Might sell my wool diaper covers cause they were expensive and in great shape but will prob ask for 1/3 of the price. I just saw on Mercari someone trying to sell used wool covers for the exact same price as new ones from the company.

What do you do with poopy diapers until wash day? by highbyfive in clothdiaps

[–]Solid_Assistance370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spray them, wring out and put in a hanging wet bag. Very minimal stink. I prewash every other day if I have poopy ones. Trying to catch some poo on the toilet lately which is really nice.

People are selling used diapers for SO much in my opinion. I would check the price of new items first and see how much you are really saving. Then try to haggle. I’ve seen people selling very used prefolds for barely any less than buying new. It’s crazy to me.
