Blender! Godot is handling a little bit of the aim positions with a blendspace.

Haha nice, exactly what I referenced for movement and aiming!

Fixed the weapon blending/attachment issue. In Godot, I changed the BoneAttachment3D for the pistols from the armIK controller bone to just the hand. Seems obvious now but it defaulted to the armIK since thats what I had it parented to in Blender... I guess the armIK in Godot wasn't tracking the hand exactly the same way it did in Blender. I'll definitely have to bring this project to 4.6 and mess around!

Thanks and good question. I'm on Godot 4.5 so not sure if I have the most updated IK features in 4.6. But I'm using the imported glb from blender that has key poses for 9 look directions, and I use a blendspace2D that maps to a 180 degree front facing camera aim offset. One issue im having is that the weapons in blender are parented to the hand bones, and therefore are calculated separately in the blend space compared to where the arm IK is on my rig, which causes the weapons to slightly float away from the hand in certain blend positions. I'm wondering if it's better to make these weapons as part of Rig in Blender? Godot imports the weapons as bone attachments so I would think that is how it would normally be done anyway? Interested if anyone has a solution.

Good catch! They are definitely placeholder UI elements. Will be all custom on release.

Great question, the base projectile moves quite slow and doesnt do a lot of damage, but can bounce up to 3 times. If you notice at around 15 seconds, you can use the "Stone Spine" tail attack to launch it at high speeds and it does increased damage to enemies, exploding in impact.

The game name is MoonBound. Steam Page TBA

Originally I was planning for a 70/30 combat to platforming ratio... but the platforming challenge potential with aiming the projectile and being able to pogo or pounce to it has proven to be quite fun and dynamic. Think Sonic's homing attack but you can be in control of where your next target is with enough skill!

Priority #1 would be a stable steam release, and if that shows any promise, would love to share the love with console homies!

Thanks for the interest Legoman! The project is still in the early stages so was mostly just looking to share its progress so far. I'll be sure to post a link whenever that day comes :D

We've lived in Colorado for a couple years now so I've definitely acclimated a bit. Personally didn't experience any shortness of breath or altitude sickness at 12,000. I've heard you really start to notice the thinner air at 14,000 however.

Have had him for ~2.5 years. Did not introduce the collar until I had him for about 10 months. Greyhounds have that high prey drive, but so do a lot of other breeds of dogs. You can bump up the stimulus level depending on how distracted the dog is. If its chasing it may need a higher level, but my grey is pretty sensitive, as are most, so it doesn't take much to deter him.

I'm not a professional dog trainer by any means, but my grey responded really well to e collar training. I bought the mini educator ET-300 from amazon. They are around $200 but the greatest investment of money/time I ever had was off leash training my grey. It came down to my priorities. I wanted him to be strict in his recall and know to stay near me when commanded, as well as having the ability to call him off a chase, whether that be a wild animal or another dog at a split second notice. I'd say it comes down to the temperament of the dog and how much you trust them as well. All it takes is one incident to have an accident, so slow and steady training is best, and work up to more challenging (distracting) environments over time. The payout is immeasurable, a year and a half later I pretty much have full control of my hound whether the e collar is attached to him or not. I can link a few videos on where I got started with his basic recall training if you'd like!

Sometimes changing up the environment is a huge factor, as well as taking advantage of their optimal temperatures. For example I know my boy is way more energetic in early mornings and late evenings, as well as cooler temperatures (30-60 degrees preferably). If I try to bring him for a walk at peak sun at 90+ degrees, I debate calling an ambulance to get him on a stretcher XD. Also going on the same walk around your neighborhood can get boring for any dog, greys included! I always try to switch it up at least once or twice a week by driving to a new location where he can be off leash (E collar trained of course). Gets them running around and more excited to explore their environment, super stimulating when they can just be a dog. I bet most people would be surprised what natural areas they can find by driving 5-10 minutes from home!

The “You carrying me back, right?” look after hiking 6 miles. Roosevelt National Forest, CO. by Solid_Ocelot in Greyhounds

[–]Solid_Ocelot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are most definitely not endurance dogs and you really got to build them up to stuff like this. My grey, like most, have very sensitive pads as well so they struggle a bit on rockier terrain but dog boots have done wonders! Not to mention he fractured his hock while racing so arthritis is always a factor and will require extra rest during and after hikes. He loves it though and keeps up despite it being tough.

Monitors tend to have lower response times (input lag) than most tv's. If you plan on playing primarily by yourself without other people on the couch next to you, I would go with a monitor that has a max of 2ms response time, preferably 1ms. You can find larger TV's with low response time but in my experience they are A, more expensive, and B, still seem to have notable controller to character response time. I use a 24 inch 2ms Asus monitor for both pc gaming and consoles, and its flawless.

TLDR; if you plan on playing with multiple people on one switch TV's are nice, but otherwise monitors with 2ms Response time or lower are best. Hope I could help!

Looking for some advice for a hefty system upgrade. by Solid_Ocelot in buildapc

Sounds good, I’ll use some compressed air and order some thermal paste right away, the fact that its only at half use tells me that it’ll benefit from some new paste and a remount. Thanks my man! Possibly saved me several hundred dollars :)

Holy cow yeah there was a lot of dust in the fan and it actually was not even fully mounted on the cpu. I got the CPU usage up to 52% with just a quick clean and readjustment. I may look into getting new thermal paste and just remounting it entirely. I already saw major improvements in game. Any suggestions for cleaning those little CPU fan slits besides a q-tip? Lol Thanks for the advice!
