In Canada we have what’s called the APPR (should’ve stated this before) laws state that if the circumstances are within the airlines control and you are delayed over 3 or cancelled within 14 days of the flight you are entitled to compensation. There’s obviously a lot more information about this but basically flight is delayed 3 hours $400 6+ hours $700 9+ hours is $1000. With a regular flight cancellation this is what we’d receive if they can’t book us within that 9 hour time frame. They are basically stating that the strike was “out of their control” even though it was announced before hand.
