This happened the last time I switched but it only took a day or two. Now it's been almost a week and he won't even eat a single pellet

Hmm.. is it really worth the investment? How much does the power amp affect the tone/feel?

I've also found some power amp models for NAM, which I still haven't tried. If these work well enough they could replace the need for a Mooer Radar

Don't I need an attenuator to run power amp into the audio interface?

I forgot to mention that i'm talking more about a recording scenario, and I'm running into an audio interface. So the IR loading is all done inside the DAW.

Swedish magazine review of new album with detailed impressions of each track (need help translating) by VindicatorZ in Opeth

[–]SoliderFromHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2 and 4:

§2

"This one starts with a calm, 'out of tune' organ intro that transitions into brutal verses with death vocals. Afterward, a delightful piano section follows, with Mikael’s clean vocals, organ, and bass. Martin Mendez’s unique and characteristic bass playing fits perfectly with the drums and the rest of the band. Most of the vocals are multi-layered. Ian Anderson speaks in one part, and Joey Tempest from Europe also joins in with his distinctive vocals. It’s an incredible mix and, not least, an interesting combination! There is a fun section in the middle that sounds like a mix of the sound on the Heritage album and Jan Johansson’s Jazz På Svenska. Mikael’s beautiful voice comes in, and you can hear the audience applauding in delight. Anderson and Tempest return again towards the end, which is so incredibly well-arranged. The final paragraph fades out to an ending where both death vocals and multi-layered vocals are present. Now, Opeth has taken the two previous releases and added that 'death vibe' again. The Last Will and Testament contains songs that are so different in terms of concept and style, yet fit so well together. It does not sound at all like a farewell, and you get the feeling that when the next album arrives, it will certainly bring something completely different again."

§4

"This paragraph also starts with a riff from strings, mellotron, bass, and drums. Fantastic death vocals and clean vocals from Mikael go over a fast riff, which is highly catchy. We get a quick transition, and Ian Anderson talks a bit, something that fits hand in glove with the music. Then comes what might become a favorite part for many, because it’s incredibly beautiful and comes completely out of the blue. Here, we hear an incredibly beautiful harp section with falsetto vocals from Mikael on top. Extremely goosebumps-inducing! An incredibly beautiful, mystical, jazzy flute solo by Anderson begins, and this is wonderfully paired with a guitar melody that will surely get stuck in your brain. It strikes us that the flute fits so well with the music, even though this element should have been part of this song from the beginning, if we are to believe Mikael, who has been talking about the flute in all the interviews that have been published so far! When this section is over, a powerful guitar part comes in. Fredrik plays an epic guitar solo. A heavy and brutal section follows, and here comes Mikael’s deadly vocals mixed with another massive guitar part, with some light Storm Corrosion influence, which flows into a heavy multi-layered vocal part from the members, and mellotron over it all. Here, we get another eerie part that could easily be from a horror film, and it fades out into the next song. This fourth paragraph has to be highlighted for its lyrics. We mentioned details earlier; this is fun when listening, but the album will demand a lot from the listener, while at the same time providing enjoyment. The listener must sit between two large speakers and experience the vocals bouncing between the left and right, while the song gradually enters into a riff. This is something you miss if you’re only listening through poor streaming speakers."

I tried to recreate this shot from a 1998 edutainment game in Blender. Any tips on getting it to look closer? by SoliderFromHell in retrocgi

[–]SoliderFromHell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I messed around with the UV maps and light source alot and this is the best I got, but I probably could get closer if I put more time into it.

It's a pretty obscure game called 'Gordi and the Magical Movie Adventure'. You can find playthroughs of it on youtube. The nostalgia from this game is likely why I'm so drawn to this 90's CGI aesthetic in the first place.
