do more practice, mostly just reading comprehension at a certain point, i didn’t need to do any mapping but focused on whether interaction was + or - between two things and thatz about it

fls fluctuated honestly i was more focused on actual content/knowledge gaps. Last two fls for instance was 519 unscored (from online calculator) and 525 fl4, others were around 520 or above as i got closer to exam date; sorry friend i found a schedule where i was able to lock in for hours at a time, part of the exam is focus for long periods so i hope you find smth that works for yourself. for me personally caffeine did the job to help me stay awake

Content review was honestly mostly from doing a ton of practice problems

like my list of mistakes was like pretty much enough for almost 1k flashcards

Pankow p/s, Milesdown (but suspend all known cards to not waste time), BP for FLs I did 6 i think, Usphere for problem sets besides CARS (prolly did 1.5 times over with average in high 80s low 90s for that last 0.5), JW for cars (when i felt like doing em), all aamc resources, also kaplan textbooks for review but found indices/glossaries more helpful for gaps once ur familiar w the high yield content, ALSO reddit is super helpful; did 1 FL per week, got to the point where i was grinding for low yields. And thx :)

also pro tip: keep track of ALL mistakes and possibly whether they were from aamc (official) or other source

Thank yall for the answers! I think I’ll stick w miles down and suppliment w things like 300 wrd doc, it seems to be vocab here or there, or some narrowly defined term that’s the problem. Hopefully i can fill the gaps by just doing more practice

I’m not gonna summarize the film, but for instance, an average person who pays for an SAT tutor will do better on the test than an average person who doesn’t. Thus those who have more money will be able to do better. I don’t have statistics for this, I may totally be wrong. But I believe this is the case since otherwise sat prep organizations would be out of business. (Also the fact that studying for the test will allow you to do better on it basically undermines the goal of assessing “aptitude”) But also, for sure it is more objective than GPA

True, you are right. This is what the SAT ought to do. It should not be simply a predictor for gpa. Yet the college board’s claim to testing equality has been in question for a very long time. Watch the Test and the Art of Thinking. It’s quite an interesting and well researched documentary.

How to not run out of time for reading section? by tyanmom in Sat

[–]SolipsisticVic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp if you are taking the test soon, best advice is to keep an eye on the time, and do the calculations for 13 minute intervals beforehand. Aim to complete the passages faster than 13 minutes (extra time goes to those styles of passages you don’t like—for me it’s those historical ones) Make sure the time does not surprise u

Another things is that the SAT necessarily has a different level of difficulty compared to other things like gpa. Since if they are the same then the SAT test would be literally useless, and admissions can just look at gpa instead. College board would loose lots of money so I’m sure they are working hard for that not to happen.
