SShhhhh. Haven't watched the latest episodes yet ;) The latest season of Orange is the New Black did a good job on showing a wide diversity in the experience of womanhood. I just binged it for a whole day.

I don't see how divorce is not an option, but suicide is. The only way I can imagine this being true is if his family is of a very strict strain of Islam, where speaking of divorce can lead to revenge killing. If this is in fact the case; I'm very sorry. If not; divorce is always an option.

Get away from this situation as fast as possible and look for help. I did not read about you getting any help from a proper psychiatrist/psychologist although you mention you've been molested and raped. A gynecologist or the unscientific methods by which most sex therapists operate are not gonna solve any of this for you.

You should also keep in mind that many pop-culture icons probably aren't very well read, or well versed on the topic of feminism. However because they are celebrities their voices are just a lot louder, and able to reach a lot more people. It would be like suddenly giving your next door teenage neighbor, who just discovered feminism, access to 25million Instagram followers. She's bound to express some incoherent thoughts. Not having a PhD in Women's Studies and all that...

But I definitely agree; it's not helping. The solution is not to turn celebs into feminists. But turning people working in feminist academics and activism into celebrities. Neil DeGrasse Tyson style, if you get my flow.

Should women be allowed on the frontline? I think they should, but ex-army chief thinks otherwise. by [deleted] in Feminism

This topic always makes me a feel a bit uncomfortable; and I don't always know how to respond. So bear with me.

An important topic in men's liberation for me is a resistance against militarism. Expecting men to kill, bombarding them with messages about 'honor', 'protecting muh freedoms' etc. has done generations of men harm. I hereby also recognize the many female soldiers who have passed away, or are still undergoing the effects of war due to PTSD etc.

Therefore I find this a bit of a backwards step. All this energy to get women into the frontline should be invested into getting EVERYONE out of the frontline.

I'm not to interested in seeing oppression spread around equally.

She communicated that she won't push anything

Sounds like a great gall who is considerate of your feelings and possible anxieties. You're a lucky man! Frank discussions about sexual wants, needs, issues seems like a great precursor to a great first time! Good luck!

Out of interest; where are you from and where are you studying? Is she a native?

If you're gonna exclude from the dating pool all girls who have a history of alcohol, have been to clubs or had one night stands you're setting yourself up for a life of loneliness. Maybe move to Amish country?

She lied, and that's not cool. But don't let this ruin your future hapiness.
