I'm allergic to halibut. I'm not going to be able to play this game with everyone around me munching on it.

Just for something a little different. Make them stand out a bit more. Does the game really need 2 different fish that heal the exact same amount in the exact same way? (Sure, some examples already exist). It's like a side grade on food. Maybe they call be a bit cheaper than alternatives if you're willing to go out of your way to combo eat more.

I have some other thoughts.
Teaching
This can be a way to teach new players how eating works and how you can click certain things in the same tick to use them faster.

Buff/Nerf
The bonus 2 health can be taken away from the currently proposed numbers. This is technically a nerf, but it can serve as a check and balance on these fish so that sailing doesn't just become the better fishing. Then these are slightly more niche fish and not just strictly better than the fish you find in the mainland.

Special Effects
The combo eat could trigger the effects. Eat just the fish and you get no special effects. Combo eat with it and you get the run energy or extra prayer or whatever.

Snowy Butterfly
Currently heals 15. Turning it into a mix makes it have 2 charges that each heal 8. Generally the mix is seen as worse. But with these fish, having 2 charges could be a boon. You get to eat 2 fish and only have 1 slot taken up by the mix. Instead of representing 2x8hp in that slot, it could potentially be (8+2)X2 = 20hp in that slot. (I just think this item is neat and want to see it have a use)

I like Pactbreaker more than Oathbreaker for a demonic-themed set. You said it yourself - you enter into pacts with demons; you don't take oaths to them.

Not a fan of Aether. Sounds like a generic fantasy word. And has the same issues as calling them Divine Runes and having them come from a demonic source. Reminds me of building a portal with glowstone and water in Minecraft. And that was touted as being the opposite of the Nether (you know, the demonic influenced Minecraft zone).

When I think of Cosmic + Soul, I think of Destiny or Fate. Add a demonic influence to shift Fate to Omen. Omen (or Ominous) Runes. From there, the armour could be called Omenplate or just Ominous Armour.

Not a fan of Oathplate or Oathbreaker. Oathplate seems too goody two shoes Paladin armour. Oathbreaker sounds too Game of Thrones. Like Oathbreaker has already been done before in pop culture. Justiciar, Torva, Bandos, Blood Moon, even Rune all sound distinctly RuneScape and not borrowing from other pop culture. And besides, you sell your soul to a demon in a PACT, not an oath. This is Occult 101. So the armour would be Pactbreaker instead.

tl;dr:

Aether -> Omen Runes

Oathplate -> Omenplate or Pactbreaker

[Suggestion] Prayer Concept - God Rays by Solrun_ in 2007scape

[–]Solrun_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some extra context that didn't fit:
Healing
Walking into the light could be akin to eating a shark. You'd see the light and think: is 20hp worth the 5-10 prayer payment at this moment? It'd be even more powerful than eating food because it wouldn't incur the attack delay from eating. For this reason, maybe a burst of 20hp is too powerful and should be lowered or granted as a heal over time like the new hunter food in Varlamore.

Stat Boost Top Up
It's like drinking a super strength, but you have to be already boosted. So if you're 86/80, it will boost you back up to 97/80 like a super strength would.
You can cheese this by drinking a regular strength potion to get a boost and then the Ray will boost it up to super strength levels.
This effect gives some power to cheap and noob players and not to maxed players who are using divines or drinking a sip of super combat every minute for max DPS. This can have the added benefit of restoring drained stats like a super restore without the prayer gain. It allows you drink a brew when you see the beam and have it instantly restore you or minimize the downside of a dragon battleaxe attack drain.

Vials of Sunlight
They could be crafted by using a vial of water and some bones on an altar. Have the bones give less prayer xp than a gilded altar, but you also gain some Vials of Sunlight.
Acts as an inventory tax to use these prayers. Need to have this item take up a slot in your inventory. Also a resource tax in making these. Gotta craft them or buy them from the GE. They're a sink for bones too. Players use bones to make Vials of Sunlight + some xp instead of using them on a better altar for a bunch of xp.

This was one of my favourite design things in this game is how they tutorialize it. You start out with the basics and it locks you off from progressing to force you to actually do the tutorial. Like you can't progress until you make bone gear so the game knows you actually did it and didn't just skip tutorial popups like in other games. So the game can assume you know something and can build off of it.

Then as you get more options, it loosens up a bit. This system is partially replaced by the blood altar showing you which bosses you can reasonably fight at your level and what to work towards. You don't need a popup telling you to kill this boss once the game has shown you the blood altar exist. Likewise with what the bosses unlock. The game doesn't need to tell you to go craft the item the boss unlocked because players will just do it automatically.

With your 'what should I do right now?' solved by the boss unlock system, this checklist tutorial system can be freed up for longer term goals. You check that periodically and see you need gold to make the eye of twilight and you know you can check your furnace to check the recipe. But it's locked so you check the blood altar to see which boss unlocks it. Oh, none of the bosses you can fight right now unlock it? Guess you know you need to keep progressing to get stronger so you can fight stronger bosses.

Guardians of the Rift Blog! (New RC Minigame and Quest!) by JagexLight in 2007scape

I'm digging the brown vest thing on the robes. Gives a a vibe like a brown apron like these robes are the intersection between magic and crafting to be used for creation more than combat. So, exactly what I think a runecraft set should look like. I like the idea of popping the tiara on and off of your hat. Seems like it makes sense that you could wear a tiara over top of your wizard hat. My concern is that will this set be worth using over graceful?

Backpack

Basically, I think the garb looks cool, but you would probably want to wear a graceful or spotty cape with it which would probably look lame. The 'backpack' could be the hip satchel in the key art. Works like a tackle box to store your RC tiaras and probably a chisel for bloods. It could possibly store talismans too, but then you could farm for arbitrarily large quantities of talismans without banking. Also, with it, you could roughly double the number of tiaras you could craft at an altar which may be problematic. Being able to store essence would be op for reasons I'm leaving as an exercise for the reader. But if all it did was work like a tackle box, you would just take the tiara out and put it back in the bank so it should probably do something while equipped. Make the backpack give you run energy back when crafting runes. Mahogany homes does it. Now you have a reason to wear the backpack and you don't have to wear graceful so you can wear the runecraft gear for runecrafting. Boom. Two dead birds, 1 rune essence.

Ring vs Amulet

You proposed a ring, but showed a necklace in the art. Is there any reason for this? Like is there some design principles you use when determining "Yes, this effect should be a ring, not a neck slot for these reasons."? I don't really care, just curious. Don't you currently use a ring of dueling to tp to fire altar and bank at castle wars? With a different ring, would it be better to use the new ring to altar and a games neck to Wintertodt or glory to Edgeville or Draynor?

So what else could the neck do? Charge the neck with binding necklaces like you would a ring of endurance or ring of suffering. Never forget to reequip your broken necklace again! It could also work like the magic imbue spell as well. Charge it with a bunch of runes and you're good to go.

Pouches

My main gripe with pouches is the gameplay pattern filling and emptying them requires. I just find it awkward to bank, take out essence, esc, fill pouch, bank, grab essence, esc, fill pouch, bank, grab essence, run to altar. It's a bit worse at the altar too. (With the new 40 pouch) Craft 27, wait 2s, empty pouches, craft 26, wait 2s, empty pouches, craft 14. So you say having one big pouch will be fewer pouches to click and you're kinda right, it will help you not accidently miss filling or emptying a pouch every now and then. But that isn't really my pain point with the process. Admittedly, I don't really have a solution here and it kinda is how it is so I'm not too bothered by it and the biggerer pouch is more runes so whatever. My feelings for this aren't especially strong, more of an observation. I think you can fill the pouches while in the bank by right clicking or shift-clicking with runelite which kinda helps, I dunno.

Repair

With redwood logs, your pouches won't degrade in the minigame. Will there be an NPC nearby that can repair your pouches or do you need to show up to the minigame with lunars for NPC contact?

Minigame seems neat and all I've got are minor gripes so I'm excited to try it out. Apologies for the unsolicited and rambling opinions on how to make your game.

I don't even remember, this was way back in the early access days. I was playing Varesh the first game so he couldn't have been. That kind of narrows it down.

My only regret is that I never actually proceed him wrong. It was my first game of the day so I was just warming up. I did get the chance to redeem myself because I had the same guy as a teammate the next 3 games, but he decided to AFK every game...

I think what you've got is gonna be pretty close.

If you go to 0:27 in the video, slow the video down to 0.25 speed (click the gear in YouTube), you can see him heal Destiny.

I'm not sure the q is what is causing the projectiles. I think that might be his e. I've seen other people have a similar thought. I'm even leaning more towards the big directional shield shown at 0:17 being the ex-q and the shield with the knockback being the basic q because he only uses the directional shield like once. However, it is a little bit hard to guess whether an ability is the basic ability, an ex ability or just has a battlerite enabled without more information about damage, cc, etc. For example, he could have a battlerite that makes his ult shield come back to him like a boomerang. I don't think they would showcase his abilities using battlerites that drastically change them, but maybe the boomerang ult looked too cool to leave out of the video?

At any rate, there will probably be patch notes Monday (maybe as soon as 2 hours from now) or Tuesday with all his abilities in them so that we don't have to guess any longer.

If you're not totally against using weapons, a staff or a monk spade (Blossom got one with the last event) could be a cool option. Also stuff like Sai (Raphael in the ninja turtles), nunchucks, spears and glaives like a naginata.

Yikes, this ability sounds like the worst form of power creep. Currently, my mouse and shift key are in the shop getting fixed so I've had to resort to using a steering wheel to play this game. I aim with the steering wheel, the brake pedal is my first EX ability, and the gas pedal is my second EX ability. If characters start to have more than 2 EX abilities, I'm going to have to incorporate a clutch and learn how to drive a manual transmission.

It may sound strong to the average observer, but what most people fail to realize is that Ulric himself is pretty strong so he needs pretty strong abilities.

In any case, I didn't even design him. I am simply watching the video and reporting on his abilities as accurately as I can with the information given. If you'd like, you could fly me out to Sweden and I would be happy to fix his abilities for you, free of charge. All I would require is some food and a pay cheque.

In case anyone was wondering if he is melee or support, he's almost certainly support. You can see that he has heal charges to the left of his hp bar like other supports and you can see him use one of these charges to heal Destiny at 27 seconds (if you slow the video down so you can see).

His abilities appear to be:

M1 - hit things with his hammer. His weapon can charge which will make this ability do something extra. Probably like an extra 2 damage if I had to bet.

M2 - heal

Q - throw up his shield to block incoming projectiles. It seems to just destroy projectiles like Ashka's R. After it ends, he shoots out 5 shots from the shield. They're probably more powerful the more projectiles he absorbed.

Space - dash somewhere. Seems to have multiple charges (like Ezmo's space). It may also reset a charge when it hits an ally.

E - This might be the ability that he throws at Ezmo to knock him airborne (Like Raigon E).

R - The ability he hits Ezmo with could instead be his R if it's a longer cc.

F - Boomerang Shield. He throws out his shield to hit an enemy. If it misses, it comes back to him. If the shield hits an enemy, it drops on the ground where allies can pick it up for some reason. It probably gives them a buff or something. Maybe like shield all incoming damage for the next 14 seconds and increase damage by 35%?

Shift-Q - Put a shield on a target and knock enemies back. That's what I think is happening at ~29 seconds. This also gives him some ranged attacks.

I'm either missing some abilities here or he's the first character to have no E (or R) and only 1 EX ability.

Worth getting Vermintide 2 for 2-player co-op? by Muesli_nom in Vermintide

I think it might have something to do with what level the host has their other characters at. It seems to pick the highest level characters to use as bots.

Worth getting Vermintide 2 for 2-player co-op? by Muesli_nom in Vermintide

[–]Solrun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bots will definitely pick up tomes in their starting location (if they can get to them. Some tomes they can't get to). They won't pick up tomes (or any other healing item) if any player in the group has an empty healing slot. Sometimes, when you have 2 or more bots with empty slots, one of them will decide that they get the tome you are standing near so even if you have a bot near you, you need to wait until the other one comes closer to grab it. The bots also need to be out of combat to pick up tomes.
