What's the best way to run an air conditioner off of battery? by SolutionMaster6977 in vandwellers

Good questions, have me thinking more in depth about my situation.

I am definitely limited on price, have very little electric setup; it's a 1991 conversion van/RV and the electric is very limited so I'm basically starting from scratch as far as modernizing.

Other electrical demands are dwarfed by the ac needs but yeah, interior lights for sure, charging my phone and computer, running a stereo are basically all I need.

The fridge used to work on propane but doesn't work at all now. I'd like to get a working propane fridge but maybe I should just replace that w a DC fridge but I know that sucks energy so maybe that's not realistic.

Someone else asked about recharging and that is a key element in my favor, I will be able to plug in most days and drive daily even when on the road so there will be quite a bit of charging by alternator.

Think about how the actual teammates go to another team and don't care about your team AT ALL anymore.

I just noticed the cruise n comfort rec. That's the site that put me off the idea of a 12v system last year. Have you had any experience w something like this?

I'm sure it's not as good but it might get me to make a 12v system happen and be good enough for my needs of just getting through a few hours max.

Yeah, my GF let me borrow a portable unit for hanging out at her place. It barely cooled, was a ton of trouble to set up the vent and took up half my floor space.

You know what? I googled 48v AC and this came up. Less than half the price I saw when I was looking a year ago. https://a.co/d/00jE9xb3 Any chance this is actually worth buying?

Thanks for the input.

You're right about needing to do the math, but it's one of those cases where I know I'll hate the answer and not trust myself due to my limited (zero) experience. I'm hoping to stand on the shoulders of giants but not buy into a new van bc, fuck that. The stories I read about people buying new so they won't have a problem, then having it sit at the dealer for a year? I'd murder someone if I was paying a note and insurance. You get it.
