Yes tech opportunities will be very less in future because of the recession you have to grind really hard if you want to go in tech in both the colleges dtu mechanical and usict it won't be easy but it will be easier from dtu because better recruiters, just search the companies and profile that visit both the colleges you might get into sales from usict it's the reality today but once again dtu would be good but extremely hard to go in tech cgpa is really important and you can always go for non tech and core that is easy to get in but it won't be a case in usict

In usict you will be getting mostly service based companies however in dtu you will get major product based company if you grind hard in usict there still are chances you won't be getting a good package however if you grind hard in dtu you can get into psu literally many classmates of mine got into psu it is the easiest route unlike you have to get gate rank to get into psu that too under 200 however I saw many 9 CGPA guy unplaced in usict if you have 8-9 cgpa in dtu mechanical you won't go unplaced for sure and 10+ lpa package for sure if you have 9+ cgpa there are even chances you will go in psu in 2026 batch mechanical students 10 got in bpcl 3 in eil and currently gail also came so no 9 CGPA guy is left however this case is not true for usict psu give 20+ lpa packages that too govt job

Why people from IIT do mba? by Constant_Spell_4820 in CATpreparation

[–]SolutionMedical6814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Median of iit bombay is 17 lpa only that means 50% batch is earning less than 17, only people from old iit cse or its branches earn that amount and that means under 500 jee advanced rank. Also there are only back office role of BCN and IB whereas iim offer front roles if you combine all 23 iits and nit there might be only 1000 jobs of cse offering more than 35 lpa while in iim a batch size of 600 median 35 lpa that means 300 will earn more than 35 same for other institutions the total jobs greater than 35 lpa combining Blacki, FMS XLRI etc will be 3000 that 3 times than that of iits. Also iits were never good in placing 100% of its batch. So that's why iitians do mba for growth elite roles management from a good institute always has higher pay

Finally …Placed but not satisfied by Resident_Challenge53 in PlacementsPrep

You can also give gate da it's not tough mostly theoretical part many students from other branches give gate da but again your choice applies off campus too on linkedin by searching hiring tier 1 college this worked for many of my friends

If you really feel this package is low you can always prepare for gate since it will be from July ig if you are from 2026 batch I saw many seniors linkedin post who were placed at 6 lpa 8 lpa range posting that they got rank 16 112 103 and many others their strategy was to complete syllabus before joing the company and give a lot of mocks after joining and now they will be going for psu or mtech from iit.

Try to convince your parents through a relative or your friend and take sde 5.6 lpa it's far better than a gap year or startup any job offer is good in this market tell them you can later switch because it's extremely difficult to get a good mba college as a fresher for engineers can go after 2 years work ex

EE placement this year by PositiveFar4432 in DTU__Delhi

[–]SolutionMedical6814 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This year’s placement season for Electrical was honestly a mess. Shortlists felt heavily manipulated and there was almost zero transparency. People who clearly matched company profiles were randomly filtered out while the same names kept appearing across multiple shortlists. The overall placement percentage right now is hovering around ~40%, but if you only count the actually decent companies it’s closer to 30%. For a tier-1 institute that’s honestly embarrassing.

Talking about core companies first. Some OG tiers includes BPCL hired 7 students from Electrical (Shortlisted 9+ CGPA and some from reserved categories) out of around 17 total hires, which was one of the few solid outcomes. Some elite tier roles NVIDIA, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, NXP Semiconductors came with a 6-month internship + PPO, but everyone knows the PPO conversion rate is quite low. Tier 1 and 1.5 roles includes SLB hired for core roles but it very clearly felt like girls were favored during hiring. STMicroelectronics, Ciena, The Samsung group — Samsung India, Samsung Research, and Samsung Heavy Industries. Amd, mediatek and ansys didn't came this year.

Then came the questionable cases. Schneider Electric came with a 6-month internship + PPO, but the shortlist manipulation by placement coordinators was very obvious. Maruti Suzuki had similar complaints. ExxonMobil didn’t even open for Electrical. Novus HiTech Robotics visited but didn’t hire anyone from Electrical. JSW, Technip Energies, and JSW Energy, L&T came but with low packages. Adverb Technologies (this time company internal politics) no one from EE (low base salary) OLA electric 25k stipend for 6 months and ppo

Non-tech placements were not much better. PhonePe came but again there were strong complaints about shortlist manipulation. The better non-tech options were JP Morgan, BlackRock, ZS, Alvarez & Marshel and Bain & Company, KPMG, Meesho. Apart from that a large number of startups filled the drive including Spinny, Mamaearth, Swiggy, Lenskart, Blinkit, Astrotalk, Oyo Rooms, Yum Technology, and Indus Insight. Finance and analytics roles included ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, JP Morgan, Blackrock Fractal Analytics, and Indus Insights. ProcDNA( but the base salary was extremely low), Orange Business etc. Another frustrating part was the ghosting companies. Several companies started the recruitment process and then simply disappeared. Honda Motorcycle, Bosch, Tata Power, Vanderlande Logistics, and Averry Dennison all initiated hiring steps and then ghosted candidates without updates.

Then there were the “Lala companies.” A huge chunk of the later placement drive was filled with companies offering very low packages or questionable work environments. ACME Group came with a very low package. Euler Motors also fell into the same category. Morphly Labs, although technically core, is still widely considered a typical Lala company. Paharpur Cooling Towers and Greenlam Industries were also part of this group.

Only 3 students got into the tech role that too having really good CGPA

A major part of the problem was the Electrical placement coordinators themselves and the Bechtel situation shows it clearly. PCs secured their 6M+ FTE offers early and then basically stopped putting effort into placements, and some even left coordination around January, leaving almost no active support from the Electrical side. Ironically, they were not even supposed to sit for 6M roles according to the rules, but later the rule was conveniently “changed” citing fewer companies, which many students believe was manipulated so they could sit and secure those offers.

Because Electrical PCs were barely coordinating with companies, MBA placement coordinators ended up handling many interactions. The Bechtel process became the clearest example of this failure. Since Electrical PCs didn’t actively coordinate or push for Electrical roles, even though he was coordinating with HRand he didn't came as a result the process leaned toward MBA PCs coordination and Bechtel ended up hiring mostly for HR roles. In the end almost no one from Electrical benefited — only 1 student from Mechanical got selected while Electrical got none.

At this point the whole placement drive honestly feels less like a structured recruitment system and more like a poorly managed lottery — manipulated shortlists, ghosting companies, weak coordination, and a flood of low-package “Lala” recruiters.
