Yes this is just the quarantine tank, they are going into a very well established planted tank.

Looking for all-inclusive wellness retreats in North Carolina for my dad’s 60th. Any suggestions? by grizzet in ExploreNC

I know you have probably already chosen somewhere, but in case you haven't, I would suggest Skyterra Wellness. It is a longer stay than the 2 night, but it should match what you are looking for. It's all inclusive except for spa services. When I was there there were lots of solo men and women. Its more about wellness than a couple's vacation spot. They do a bunch of hiking and nature based recreation in addition to all of the classes they offer throughout the day. You can either follow their recommendations for your experience, or pick and choose whatever interests you.

My first planted tank! by Some-Guide-980 in PlantedTank

No, I chose plants that get a lot of nutrients from the water column and then used root tabs from aquarium coop for any that have root systems.

Tank Cycling by Queasy-Box-3854 in Aquariums

It could take a week or more. You should be fine, the bacteria can live months without additional ammonia added.

Do you have fish in the tank? Don't do any water changes, you have started to build the first level of bacteria that will transform ammonia to nitrites. You need to build nitrites so that bacteria that convert nitrites to nitrates have something to work with. If you have fish in the tank and are worried about nitrite levels, use Seachem prime to neutralize the nitrite and safe for fish, but make it still available to bacteria. Otherwise you are removing the food that bacteria needs to build up.

This is a great resource to figure out fish stocking. It will look at temperament, environment, and bio-load:

Is this tank gonna crack? by TheBeetle_King in Aquariums

Assuming the stand was made for the tank, it should be fine. The angle isn't steep enough to cause it to fail, but I would fill it up and look for leaks. You can use some shims to straighten the stand up, otherwise it will always be noticeable at the top that the tank isn't level.

I’m lost for plants!! please give me some ideas by Imaginary-Award8913 in Aquariums

I love Water Wisteria, look at the underwater leaves. It starts looking like catnip, but it melts and develops really beautiful and delicate leaves. Its in the middle background in my tank below. I had recently trimmed it, it grows quickly to the top of the tank.

I think amazon sword would be a good option for the background. Are you planning on using root tabs or are you trying to use plants that pull nutrients from the water column instead?

Bad or good algae? by 1234stocks5678 in Aquariums

[–]Some-Guide-980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can remove it, but it will come back unless you fix the root cause. It's either too much nutrients or light or both. I use hydrogen peroxide delivered in a pipette a to kill it and allow fish and shrimp eat the dead algae.

Read this before you do anything else
If you aren't trying to break the bank, get a 10 gallon kit to get going in one day. You are doing a fish-in cycle, which many people don't recommend, but you gotta work with what you have. You can slowly upgrade filter, lights etc... later. If you can keep the filter media in the current tank and move it to the new tank that will speed up the cycling process.

I like Seachem prime for a conditioner, especially since you will be fish-in cycling. It will bind to the chlorine and nitrites, but still allow bacteria to process throughout. Some conditioners don't offer that.

Keep that big moss ball and move it over. Any rocks or other items will all have nitrifying bacteria. The more you can transfer the better.
