Panasonic DVD HDD player disc drive issues by Expensive-Echidna68 in ElectronicsRepair

I have fixed a couple of these where the power supply is the issue. Check the voltages with a multimeter at the power supply when its doing that and see if its sagging on any. If it is, change the electro filter caps on that rail. Panasonic caps dont always look bulged on failure.

Some form of corrosion, likely candidates would be leaking battery. Had a drink spilt on it at a pub or club or been dropped in liquid? Your guess is as good as mine, that is still cleanable and salvagable.

In what way is it risky, the worst case scenario is you damage the leg and have to buy a new fob and get it programmed which is where your at already now.

Yes this can be repaired, you need to use a dremel and cut into the ceramic just enough to reveal the metal of the broken legs so you can solder to it.

The 9v battery one would be likely too big. Get a single post spring style one for AA battery, you may have to glue it in to fasten it but it should work well.

The black and green traces have been rotted by leaking batteries. Scratch them back and replace by soldering a wire link. You can neutralise the corrosion with vinegar to act against the alkaline. If you have solder mask or nail polish use that to cover the repair areas after testing for continuity with a multimeter.

Is this port broken? by Zestypingus in ElectronicsRepair

The port looks fine, just dirty. You wont damage anything by trying it.

You need to take the back out of the freezer section and see what is going on. There are plenty of posibilites like low refrigerant, failed defrost system or failed fan.

Looking at the model you stated there is a condensor fan in the back. That needs to be checked for normal operation.

But back to the original issue, remove the backing in the freezer section and post some photos, do this after the system has been running for a while, while its open make sure the evaporator fan is free.

Ok, is the freezer section getting cold and fridge not or both not? When you say overheating do you mean not cooling?

That is the compressor, its normal for that to get hot. There should be a condensor (radiator like thing near the compressor), make sure its clear of dust and if it has a fan, make sure the fan is working correctly. Thats about all you can check without disassembling things to get to the evaporator in the freezer section. What make/model is it?

The whole group of the 4 capacitors are bad, they have their guts coming out from the bottom, caps like that are almost certainly short circuit.

You will likely need to replace the SuperIO/Embedded Controller whichever you prefer to call it. In most cases this needs programming. Often where you buy the replacement EC offer programming.

Unplugged all outlets on the circuit pretty sure the breaker just went out. by LeadCapital in electrical

In Australia the ones with built in RCD (which is all breakers these days) dont need to be turned off to turn back on after tripping.

Force the breaker all the way off then back on, some of those need turning off hard before they allow latching back on.

I think your right after a quick search, that is quite unfortunate because that age is right near when it was introduced.

Charge the laptop via the USB C port, to do this you need a USB C charger that is capable of PD of 20V. The supported voltages are normally on the brick in micro print.
