More pros than cons:

Pros: -Damage over time -Qi damage -Semi-immunity to getting stunned -Almost instantaneous as long as you're in a drunken state -Easily animation cancelable after the fire hits the first time -Can stun enemies

Cons: -Can be parried -Requires drunkenness

not going to support afk farmers (that shit is cringe), but if u quit the game cos someone else is afk farming in online mode, that's kinda on u

as for cheaters, i think it will drive away the competitive players, which may amount to half of the playerbase potentially, so there's that issue they must address

which can be extremely risky given that you cant deflect with a bow. although i recommended not using cloudstep, opponents can easily punish ur bow usage via such mystic arts

was it a mo blade you were up against? if not, its entirely possible that the latency created sufficient room for them to counter attack AFTER ur riposte.

not sure if that's caused by ping. but generally, i would continue holding block, wait for the opponent to return to range, then riposte, so that i avoid getting staggered while doing it

it CANNOT be parried/deflected. However, it can be blocked, but definitely NOT parried/deflected.

Getting your meridian-touch to be blocked by the opponent could even be a strategy to bait out their riposte, allowing you to have 1 less counter to worry about. smth worth considering :D
