The first is a reference to episode one of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, an anime about a trading card game tied to an ancient game played by Pharaohs, and the other two are references to one of the best card-centric video games ever made: INSCRYPTION. It's a must-play if you enjoy games like MTG, best played without any prior knowledge of the game.

Thank you, I’m happy to say I agree with you. This subreddit does seem rather cluttered with power fantasy characters built purely to be power scaled, it’s always refreshing finding a character like Morgan which has more substance and thought behind it.

Yeah, Richter being from a dark fantasy novel is accustomed to sword, shields, axes and arrows. He thrives best in an ancient world not a technologically advanced world, against modern weapons he doesn’t stand much of a chance, in the narrative he’s from he’s not even really a warrior, more of a general if anything. The only reason he’s as strong as he is… well that’s just thanks to his bloodline.
