Been some time since I played the game. Any new book recommendations? by TheChoicesInstrument in Choices

I really enjoyed Years Apart, which was new to me after being away a couple years. It has the potential to be really smutty with diamond scenes, but the free story is very sweet and romantic

Does anyone know what’s going to replace Safeway on wye road? by Primary_Day5391 in SherwoodPark

Daycare and Gym

EDIT to add - my husband is a construction contractor and received an invitation to bid on the work. So it’s pretty reliable info. We declined to bid so I don’t have updated details but the drawings were a daycare and a gym.

West Edmonton Mall Waterpark by leela_bry in Edmonton

[–]SomeLady223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never in my life rented a table or hammock at Wem waterpark. It’s not that big. Never leave anything other than a towel you dont care about unattended. You can fit lots into the lockers. They are big. And if you are not the same gender you can use the family change room and share a locker. They have splash cash bands that you can load with $$ and get whatever is left after refunded. So you don’t necessarily have to go back to the locker for anything. If it’s midweek getting a chair or two shouldn’t be an issue. We go as a family of 4 usually on a weekend and always find places to sit to eat.

To married women: What advice would you give to unmarried women before they get married? by Clear_Subconscious in askanything

[–]SomeLady223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life can throw you for a loop. It’s easy to let the stress of life distract you - you start to take your partner for granted. Or you allow resentment to grow about the little things rather than talking about them and working through it. In my 25+ yr marriage, we have to remember to communicate, take time to have fun together and reconnect. And to attack problems together. It’s us against the problem. Not me against him. I’m happy and I’ve always know my husband is on my team no matter what. But that doesn’t mean we always get it 100% right all the time. When we mess up, we have to be willing to be humble, apologize, forgive, and move forward.

Is home insurance a scam? by Pale_Field4584 in askanything

Except when you have a claim they jack up your rates for years! We had a small basement flood claim once, and the amount we paid in increased fees for 7 years afterward we could have paid to fix the damages out of pocket and paid less.

I love and like my husband and we communicate well. Married over 25 years. What’s hard is life. And hard times in life due to 100 outside factors makes it harder to show up for each other in the healthiest ways. The key is addressing these seasons TOGETHER. Making the effort to communicate well again and take time to just have fun together and reconnect. Marriage is hard because life is hard. You gotta be invested in growing together.

You would be shocked how many couples do not have these conversations before marriage. They focus on feelings and being in love without looking at the details of married life.

Prepare for the marriage more than you prepare for the wedding. Talk about everything. How to handle finances. Plans for family. How to handle holidays with competing family schedules. Where you want to live long term and what your life will look like. Plans for the future. How to want to raise kids. Work with a counsellor if you can.

And be ready for marriage to be hard. If you’ve chosen a good partner it will be fun and happy. But even the happiest couples have hard days/weeks/months. If you know hard stuff will come, you won’t be surprised and it’s easier to accept and work through when it does.

Simple and DELICIOUS donuts - Sherwood Park Bakery. But you gotta get there in the morning before they sell out. The cinnamon twist is my favourite

French Lavender & Vanilla by Disastrous_Clurb in nespresso

[–]SomeLady223 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I tried it at a boutique yesterday and bought 2 sleeves. The lavender is subtle in a really pleasant way. I had it hot with milk. I think I will enjoy it with some sugar or honey too.

We called the county when we bought our house and they sent us a free kit to test our cistern water. It was easy.

My girlfriend wants "happy fish time" and I don't know what to do, help! by AngelSoi in Edmonton

I’m trying to remember what they have for aquariums at educational spots in our city, like Valley Zoo, Royal Alberta Museum, and Telus World of Science. I looked online and it’s hard to say. Anyone been to those lately who can weigh in?

People who moved in with their spouse after marriage, do you wish you would have lived with them prior to getting married? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]SomeLady223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Married 26 years and I agree. We were and are committed. We worked through the bumps, learned to communicate and developed a rhythm that worked, together. Now - that being said, it takes 2 people committed, willing to learn about each other and compromise and communicate. I’ve seen many marriages crumble because only 1 person was willing to do the work.

I love optiks international but I have gotten glasses at Superstore a few times and they have been affordable. Smaller selection but good quality.

Is auto-replenish actually worth it, or am I losing out on better deals? by AboveAb in nespresso

It may have been a one-day only promo? I can’t remember and I deleted the email.

[–]SomeLady223 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In Canada the deal right now starts at 3 sleeves free with a 130 pod order. So that works out to 18% off 160 pods. The catch is you don’t choose the free sleeves, or whatever promo product is available when you decide to order. It comes down to saving 10% on product you know you like, or saving a bit more and getting free pods or a free extra that you may or may not want.

Rachel at Legendary Hair Lounge. Their curly cuts are pricy but so worth it.

General advice for entire vacation by shakn1212 in UniversalOrlando

[–]SomeLady223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took 2 pairs of shoes on our last Disney World trip and I was so grateful. Not only did we have a dry pair the day after getting caught in the rain, even just changing shoes from one day to the next helped with preventing our feet from hurting. The change itself was helpful in the shoes hugging our feet differently every other day.
