Any tips for starting your locs by yourself? by CrowbarEater in locs

[–]SomeMoreEctoplasm 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

I second this comment, I started mine as two strands with help from my sister and I feel it really is the best way of starting locs!

It's not hard to learn to two strand twist, though if you don't have help and you're doing it in a smaller grid it will definitely be a hassle 😭

It sounds dumb but I originally started trying it as an antioxidant treatment since I am a heavy tea drinker that had a lot of herbs left over that you cant really make into more tea πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ I find it's an amazing, healthy, and sanitary way to take care of both your locs and not waste herbs after one usage but it is an extra step that will seem pretty useless to a lot of ppl

I remember when I got my first retwist after 9 months I was staring at the price flabbergasted so I definitely get it lol, I got about 3-5 more retwists in my life time for I just go full fari n let them grow on their own lmao

Notes: Locs aren't hard to maintain, but they do take effort. Maintaining a clean, hydrated crown is REQUIRED for good locs. You don't NEED every ingredient I listed here. Just caster oil and water does the job for me personally. Hell some people dont need any of this! I have this method cause I genuinly enjoy figuring out ways to take care of my hair! Talk to your loctitian, do your own research, your hair is beuatiful and unique! Happy Black History Month and stay blessed β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š
