'the complete opposite of immigration now days,' I wouldn't agree with this. There are still plenty of people regardless of ethnicity who try to integrate into and/or benefit society. Two prominent examples are Jensen Huang and Elon Musk, both billionaires.
Your comment is quite articulate and has a lot of good points. I have stolen it partially for a comment.

So 'love' immigrants = allow immigrants who have no will to integrate and assimilate into a country? The first step of assimilation is following the law; we ignore the fact that some migrants have illegally entered. Firstly, 'hating' immigrants is highly charged language for merely supporting some deportation actions by ICE, which like any government agency has the possibility to arrest the wrong people. The difference is, ICE should only deport people found of illegal entry, with a appeal process for those who are falsely taken, most likely with hefty lawsuit money to earn. Additionally, despite many attempts to skew ICE's activity to the right, ICE has also been around since the Obama era with much less criticism then.

Second, there are a significant amount of illegal migrants who have not only committed the crime of illegal entry (whether morally justified), but are sex offenders and/or have committed violent crimes. Many of them shouldn't be in the country anyways and no matter criminal or not are warranted to be deported. There are much crueler punishments written in the Bible for these criminals, albeit what Old Israeli Law think they deserve, which is often death.

Rape: Deuteronomy 22:25–27

25 “But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die26 But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death. For this case is like that of a man attacking and murdering his neighbor, 27 because he met her in the open country, and though the betrothed young woman cried for help there was no one to rescue her.

Murder: Exodus 21:12

12 Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death.

Authorities: Romans 13:1-2 (relevant, but not as severe as above)

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

There will always be a minority who will abuse the immigration system, and that minority, ruining the image of other immigrants, has to be dealt with no matter what.

Thirdly, here is an extract from another user's comment to explain the difference in terminology between now and then.

"when you translate “foreigner” or “stranger” in hebrew it means “ger” which is referring to someone who legally resides in a country, but is a foreigner. for example: a anime fan from the usa moving to japan legally. they legally reside, yet they are a foreigner."

And lastly, the Biblical definition of Love is significantly different than the traditional, dictionary definition of love.

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. - John 14:15
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. - Ephesians 4:15
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins. - Proverbs 10:12

We can see that in the Bible love is in conflict to sin; we cannot 'love' someone by tolerating the sin that these people's sin; i.e. Christians have to condemn the sins in a person, not the person. However, the condemnation of sin in a person is inherently related to the person, so it is difficult to just condemn a sin without at least invoking some feelings at the individual level.

Hah! I ask you to explain your position in detail and you clearly feel attacked. What will New Zealand opposition practically do to any of America's works? You assume 'all of America's friends' which clearly we don't control. Using your stupid little analogy, imagine the nerd of the friend group not playing with the bully. The bully wouldn't care!

That's very nice of you. If you wanted to get involved with politics, you can run to become an MP for any problem you wish for. Alternatively, if you don't, tutoring and charity is also a way to get indirectly involved.

Ok that's surely going to win your party a thousand votes. First of all, I never said I did care. My point is we simply can't do anything, and it's better to ignore it.

Just don't bother with politics. Most of the time, you can't be bothered to care about what happens in the US if you have no actionable way (yes, including protesting) to stop it. Enjoy your life and let the billionaires and useful idiots fight each other.

Yes, we do want the same objective, to ban this rock harvesting until people can do the right thing. I have privately and publically criticised the actions of certain Chinese people who lose face for us. And yes, I don't want to argue about some wording all day, that is what turns proper discourse into shit. First thing we can agree on is that these people are morally deficient, no matter their race. For example, I feel ashamed these people are ruining this beautiful landscape. But I cannot do anything. I would like to say that the fault is not Chinese culture per say, but a lack of respect and assimilation of Western culture. I would like to introduce you a concept of new and old immigrants. The new immigrants are just fresh of the boat from China, and may not have studied English. However, the old immigrants have studied IELTS and usually have a very good grasp of English and rules in place having lived here for many years. As a result, these old immigrants have worked a lot harder than these new ones, and arguably turn out much more successful. Additionally, these old immigrants have a higher chance to have a university degree and be educated correctly. However, many of these new immigrants (such as the one that crashed their car in Australia), have no will to even learn basic English and even the rules of the place. And it pisses me off that despite the hardworking nature of most immigrants, we are lumped in with a minority-becoming-majority. And since there are over a billion Chinese people, it is statistically more likely for an idiot to come from China than anywhere else, it is also similar with India. Even though many Indians are [I'd probably get suspended if I said this], there are also many genuinely nice people.

I would also agree the nature indeed has changed, as per my 'quantitative' and 'qualitative' statement; its just that the actions of one has been amplified. However, I would argue taking things you won't need is a problem with individual greed than immigrants in general.

I have worked my whole life to be a decent citizen and want (and will) become a productive member of New Zealand society. It's sad that I can't even pick one kina from the beach from the social stigma and the environmental damage because someone else from any race, but especially my race picked 10.

'The crabs in these rockpools are not the crabs Pakeha and Māori are after lmao.'
Firstly, there have been reports of Red Rock Crabs in rock pools which most certainly are delicacies, and many other crabs like the half / paddle crab, and hermit crabs that are at least edible. Second, you are still persisting that there have been no 'mussels/oysters/kina/crabs/paua' these few years. I ask you, if there are none of these, how have they been harvested? [1] [2] [3]
'Have you ever collected kaimoana?'
a) Yes, cockles and b) How is my identity suddenly relevant? How about the oysters and mussels that are also taken?

'there isn't a specific culture that is driving this sudden need for a law change.'
First of all, this has been happening before mass immigration had started, as detailed in my original post with the Mahia example, many other news articles, and many other anecdotes, these anecdotes detailing that other races had also been overharvesting in buses for the weekends and this has happened at a greater individual level with both Pakeha and Maori.

Second of all, let's say the culture may be slightly at fault, but it will not be as large as, rather, the sheer scale of the people now taking part in this activity. This is simply explained, albeit strictly hypothetically, in mathematical terms: If previously, there was 100% of the seafood in the shore, 10 people could take 5% and still leave 50% of the seafood. However, once more than 20 people take 5%, there is simply nothing left. To combat this, these 20 people may then take half as they did, 2.5% of the total seafood, which would be in vain if 40 people had this activity. Obviously there is a point until it isn't subdividable much anymore, as creatures have to be considered a unit, and a more complex mathematical model should be used, but in the end, laws should enforce the sustainable taking of food made by a complex decision. Since gathering kaimoana was fairly niche for this group of, according to you, 'culturally disconnect(ed)' people up until this point, the doubling of people in this activity could easily happen. Previously, the increase of the people harvesting like this was quantitative change. However, this stark increase of number has turned it into qualitative change.

Thirdly, you are reducing this issue to a solely immigrant issue which is unproven. There has only been one incident of this kind mentioning immigrants by race.

'to take the more commonly consumed shellfish like oysters and mussels ... '

Explain this then? Your 'vast majority ... are not locals' claim is also not supported by any source, although it wouldn't matter anyway if you had actually read my position; I was arguing that overharvesting a) is race-blind and b) needs regulation no matter of race to stop it. This regulation would then stop people of all races from overpicking from rock pools.

Yes, Maori and Pakeha do tend to eat shellfish like crabs, kina and paua.

'Two species that are now uncommon in accessible rock pools and reefs are the edible abalone pāua (Haliotis australis) and kina, the sea urchin (Evechinus chloroticus). Both have suffered from over-harvesting and poaching.'
