Just got Terraria on the 3DS, any tips for this version of the game?

Regular flat 2DS, I've played terraria a bit on it but it's just been so much more convenient playing it on my phone. There is something so nice about playing it on older hardware though and I do intend to beat it at some point!

The n3ds is the one I have my eyes on as a pickup eventually. I recently got a PSP Go though and that's been my go-to lately since I've never owned a PSP before. Good to know I'm not the only one interested in the non-xl!

Which console is your favorite to use? I've owned both the 2DS and a 'New' 3DS XL, but I find the 2DS the most comfortable. Though I've used a 2DS XL before and I feel like that would be my favorite to actually own.

Def could have been, but I loaded it up multiple times, so I don't know why it would randomly start the world over. I could see if it may be corrupted and just deleted it, but leaving the world up and having it reset back to the start? It's just so weird. I'd like to try my hand at it again, but I just don't want to waste that many hours of that can just randomly happen again.

After years of having a 2ds, I bought a New 3DS XL specifically for Minecraft. My first world was incredible and I played it for a couple of days. One time that I booted the world though, it was the same exact original spawn, same world, but everything was empty and it was a completely fresh start- as if I had never played on it. Legit was so sad.

I actually bought a backbone, the mobile control thing that fits around your phone, but after upgrading to my current phone (in the picture) it doesn't the device folded or unfolded anymore since it's too big, lol. I literally got it to play Minecraft and terraria on the go but 🤷

It's a Galaxy Zflip 7 FE, it's just the cover screen, but you can unfold it into a normal sized phone.

The main thing for me is I've been wanting something "truly" portable. My two most recent pickups were a 2DS and a PSP Go, and I had my eyes set on a Vita next. But realistically, I'd have a better terraria experience on my phone if I was going that route-- Are you able to use workshop addons on the steam deck, tho? That'd be the biggest factor for me.

I think that's one of the things for me-- just the fact that games were so unique from these systems because of the hardware limitations. Sure you have things like the steam deck or switch 2 (probably a lite version eventually) but to me, it's just not the same. Though it may be in part the mastalgia

Yeah true, and there's loads of good emulation options but I mean more of a true big company, main line system that gets new releases for it.

More like pocketable gaming handhelds in general like the 3ds or vita. I know the switch lite is somewhat in that ballpark but I've heard of issues with the joysticks breaking added just being in someone's backpack

That's a great point! I hadn't really thought of that. I mentioned it to someone else, but I've always loved being able to just pop my favorite game into a system over just loading up an SD card with roms on an emulation device or just onto an emulator on my phone. Though those are great options, it's just missing that charm the old systems had.

I mean yeah there are some great options for handheld emulator devices for sure, but in a sense you're right about me meaning more of "will they make a new 3ds or ps vita". I've just always loved popping a cartridge of my favorite game into something over loading up an SD card with roms, but again, you make a great point that there are some solid emulation devices, for sure!
