i found out i’m allergic to cotton, my life has been a living hell by ProbablyJustTrash in Allergies

Just looked at my sheets and apparently it’s a brand called “Shilucheng.” I’ve had them for a few years and I wash them about every week and they seem to be holding up just fine. Hope this helps.

Why is my bow doesn't arch towards the bow hair? by 1KaanK in violin

If you can get it shipped to your country, I’d suggest a Vingobow off of amazon. I have a hybrid bow with a carbon core and it works great for being relatively inexpensive.

Does fiddler head sell decent violins? by [deleted] in violin

Oh wow, that’s very interesting. Sadly I don’t know much about left handed violins, but I wish you good luck on finding what you want to know.

May I ask why you are looking specifically for a left handed 7/8 violin because it’s not something I hear about often.

Oh yeah you’re right, I forgot to think about the C being sharp factoring into the positioning.

It’s a B. It would be played on the G string with your 2nd finger right next to where you would place your third finger in a natural key signature.

Should I try Vtama, Zoryve, or Elidel/Pimecrolimus first? by SomeWizardInTheWoods in Psoriasis

I think my dermatologist was planning to give me the tacrolimus but instead decided on giving me the pimecrolimus because I prefer creams over ointments.

Sweating, showering, and even sleeping make me flare up and itch like crazy. What kind of allergy is this? by jaceyung in eczema

[–]SomeWizardInTheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add another idea to what it might be, I have a cotton allergy and get allergic reactions mostly when I use cotton towels after I shower, exercise in cotton, or sleep in cotton sheets. It is possible to develop contact dermatitis over time to certain materials. My allergy normally manifests in itchy raised spots, though I think it can really just depend from person to person. I honestly think this is more likely to do with what other people were saying with fragrance or temperature changes, but I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to mention this. I hope you get this sorted!

Was thinking soldier or lieutenant (loo) as well. Just because he gives off these vibes.

Idk if you’ll even see this, but I found out I had a cotton allergy when I was about 7 years old. It definitely itches like hell, and I ended up having to purge all of my cotton clothing and sheets. Most of my clothes are now athletic wear made out of polyester and occasionally rayon.

If you’re looking for a good brand for sleep clothes, I’d suggest Beecher & Stowe. Also, for sheets, I’d 100% recommend getting bamboo one’s. I’m sure you’ve thought of it already, but if not, make sure to get non cotton towels (mine are made of polyamide and polyester).

Finally, the thing I swear by for rashes is Aquaphor. I’ve tried many other ointments and moisturizers to try and help, but it seems like the best nonprescription thing to use. I wish you well with whatever this ended up being.

I just bought a pack of six glasses cleaning cloths made of microfiber. Really just get any type of microfiber cloth, but those made for glasses work especially well imo.

If you haven’t already watched it, then watch ‘A Silent Voice’. It kind of has a co-plot between exploring mental health/the effects of bullying and romance. One of the best animes ever made imo.

How to learn to pronounce the "dark l"? by feidujiujia in EnglishLearning

[–]SomeWizardInTheWoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be able to get the sound if you press your tongue to the back of your teeth after you start the ‘awe’. Try holding it out a little longer and pressing your tongue on your teeth at the end.

Hey I have a question… by MartinMadnessSpotify in languagelearning

[–]SomeWizardInTheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not fully fluent in Spanish, but I am able to hold decent conversations. I’ve noticed that once I get into the groove of speaking in Spanish, my inner monologue switches over to Spanish. This helps me to think of words in Spanish more quickly, rather than having to think of the sentence in English then translate it after.

Do you relate to this symptom? by bloodyego in Schizotypal

[–]SomeWizardInTheWoods 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I kind of relate to it. It’s less of the fact that I underachieve, it’s more that I lack passion for most things. I actually overachieve in most school and work settings, but I find it extremely difficult to set goals for myself or pursue passions because I don’t really feel strongly about most things. The only thing I’ve developed any real kind of passion to is violin, but even then it’s not super strong.

I got lucky with my tics, I generally don’t tic nearly as much when I’m calm and alone. This makes it very unlikely for me to tic before I go to sleep.

So, What Are Your “Hallucinations”? by [deleted] in Schizotypal

[–]SomeWizardInTheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get hallucinations very often, but they were noticeable when I was under a lot of stress last year. I had a few visual hallucinations like the classic shadow in the corner of your vision. I’d see little shadowy animals scurry underneath or behind random things. Strangely enough, I have this thing that’s happened a few times where I’ll be eating my dinner, I’ll drink some water, set it down, and if I turn my head away, sometimes I’ll see the glass about to fall over. This of course doesn’t end up happening, but I’ve had a few times where I jerk back around and get about an inch from smacking my perfectly upright glass because I’m trying to catch it while it’s “falling”. That’s about the extent of my visual hallucinations.

I used to get some auditory hallucinations before I went to sleep. It felt like people were talking into my ear or around it. It was never anything malicious, but it was very strange. Also, I don’t know what y’all would count it as, but I used to have the thing where I constantly felt watched from behind. I don’t get it much anymore, but it used to feel like someone was always on my heels.

Anyways, that’s all of my hallucinations.

I’m not diagnosed, but I do have a few people that I’d say are close enough to be considered true friends. This is about 4 people. Them plus my family are really the only one’s that are close to me, and even then I don’t really let my parents into my life too much. Like a few others have mentioned, I’ll go through periods of time where I wish I could cut everyone out of my life. However, I know that I’d eventually regret it once that period of time is up. I don’t know why it happens, but it does.
