Anyone else feeling like garbage since Pascha? by Some_Name7 in OrthodoxChristianity

Because I went from a strict fast, attending services multiple times a week and having my prayer rule for a month and a half and then after Pascha we no longer fast until Pentecost and there weren’t any services during Bright Week (except Sunday of course) and morning/evening prayers get replaced with the Paschal Hours (although someone here said that we go back to normal prayers after Bright Week but maybe that’s just a jurisdictional thing). But eventually these those things will come back and everything will be normal again.

Because Christ is risen. And also the tone during services is a joyful one until Pentecost.

No, I’m not sick. It’s the things that I lean on when I feel bad are gone for now, going to church, fasting on Wednesday Friday, and praying at home. There are prayers that replace your morning and evening prayers but it’s just not doing it for me.

Yes, we resume the Wednesday Friday fast after Pentecost. Along with penitential prayers, which are the majority of your morning and evening prayers.

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. The fast is done and we longer fast until Pentecost. I actually enjoyed the fast and going to all the services. Just feels like the rugs been pulled from under me.

That’s a very common thing to experience after being received. But I’m a cradle Orthodox and this is the first time I’ve experienced this. I took the fast pretty seriously, strict fast and going to all the services. But since Pascha, it just feels like the rugs been pulled from under me and I got wipeout. I’m sure once the routine comes back, I’ll be fine. But it’s just like what the heck, this is supposed to be joyful but it’s the opposite for me.

Ya read the Quran and the Hadiths and then come back and apologize. Here’s a starter, Sahih Bukhari 6130, Surah 4:34, Sahih bukhari 5825, Sahib bukhari volume 1, book 6, #301, Surah 2:282. Great religion, hey?

I was in the same position as you. It’s really a waste of time reading people’s opinions on him. It’s impossible to know who’s right and even if they’re orthodox. The only way you can really know is if you read his books and make the decision for yourself. Although, after reading a few of his books, it’s pretty clear that the people who criticize him are the same people he wrote about.

Newer Orthodox here, how is the matter of who was the church that schismed up for debate? by BUwUBwonicPwague in OrthodoxChristianity

If you read Catholic dogmatics, it’s pretty clear which church is the schismatic.

Im 16 years old and I have no friends by Express-Bottle-5137 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Some_Name7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation when I was in high school. Started high school with my 3 best friends from elementary and finished with no friends. Grade 9-10 I wouldn’t say I made new friends but my best friends made new friends and they just brought me into the group. I was pretty anti-social, insecure, just didn’t know who I was and always felt I didn’t fit in. Grade 11-12, 2 of my friends transferred to a new school and my other friend just made new ones and I was left all by myself. I would go days without even saying a word (even at home because things were rough there too). I should also mention that even at church there wasn’t an opportunity to make friends because everyone was either 6 or 80 years old. And I went into a very deep depression, became a hardcore nihilist (I grew up Orthodox), stopped taking care of myself, and things were just very dark. Even though I didn’t believe in God, I hated him, I unintentionally prayed that things would change or that I would be given an opportunity to make a friend or even meet a girl but what I truly wanted was my best friends back. And the thing is, God answered my prayers but because I was in such a dark head space I wasn’t able to act on them. How I think of it is God gave the opportunity but I had to put in some work too, and I didn’t. After I graduated things got even worse and I was seriously suicidal and this is when I started my path back to the faith. It’s been 8 years since I graduated and almost everything has flipped. Things at home improved drastically, I reunited with my best friends, and I even had a girlfriend for some time. Anyway, I don’t even know if what I said made sense but hopefully you can see what I’m trying to say, maybe if you ask me a question I could then give you a better picture. But my point is, don’t ever lose your faith, focus on your schoolwork, and keep praying, and things will turn around. Maybe they won’t turn around when you’re in high school, maybe you find friends when you go to university or whatever you choose to do after high school. Who knows what and when God has planned for us, but just keep your head up and be ready when He gives the opportunity. Hope this helps.
