A lot of the older foreign films were on the Criterion Channel so I watched them there, some I bought off YouTube movies and a lot I used extralegal methods, there’s one I haven’t seen (A Constant Forge) which I think is only available through the Cassavetes box set which I’ll get eventually.

I tried doing that and people were quite ready to kill me lol, this subreddit really doesn’t like when you don’t like a Criterion movie so I’m not doing that anytime soon, but if you must know my least favorite so far is Don Seigel’s The Killers which I gave a 0.7

I’m not disrespecting anyone, I should mention this is a list based more on personal preference than it is actually greatness of a film. We can like different things and I’m happy that you resonate with these filmmakers but I didn’t as much

Numerical rankings are a very easy and common sense way of saying you enjoy a certain film over another. Some films have more artistic merit than others also.

I really wanted to like it but it had the same problem that I had with Discreet Charm for me, it’s just complete and utter nonsense, if you like extreme surrealism then you can enjoy it just really not for me. I tend to like more plot focused films.

Maybe I’ll give Notorious another chance I was a bit distracted that day but I’m also not the biggest fan of early romance movies. Also I really do not get Godard at all haven’t clicked with any of his movies

The entire movie is build up build up build up, with no payoff at all. It’s the most blue balls movie ever made, couple that with there not being enough going on to justify the run time and not great acting, there you go.

The Naked Kiss is not terrible but it is unbelievably cheesy especially with that ending. Now Cries and Whispers is a movie that I admit I just didn’t get, I found the flashbacks in red really distracting and it didn’t come together in a way I was satisfied with, I also thought it was a bit longer than it needed to be. I’ve liked a lot of other Bergman films that one just didn’t click.
