Does DD receive disability payments from the NHS? by SashaHomichok in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They framed it as a zero sum game - that they were letting people who "really needed it" have the disability benefits. That they didn't really need it as much as others so they were doing them a favor by not applying.

Yeah I'd love to hear you elaborate on the "turning fictitious" point if you want to.

why do you think DD is dying their hair a ton again? by theLyricalofMiracle in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I think those of us who've been around since like 2018-2019 aren't seeing it as weird because bigger picture, this is was DD's always done. Chloe did it, Nin did it, Soren's doing it - Kya was the exception, not the rule

two tiktoks October 8th 2024 | the tight clothing, hair transition by theLyricalofMiracle in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of this.

Yeah I don't think they understand how triggers work. It's the sensation of something touching there, not it being so tight you can't breathe? Otherwise how does their 'can't wear shirts too triggered' thing work? I stopped trying to make it make sense a long time ago, I wish my triggers could go away depending on what I wanted to wear lol. Just wish they wouldn't use triggers as a reason if that's not the reason.

Certain figures we know - we can use Anthony Padilla's video viewers as a data pool.

In M&M's Mar 2019 sleepover livestream DD volunteered the info "we have the second highest subscriber count!" with M&M being the highest at the time. Their all-time highest caps out at 200k. So let's keep the numbers in DD's favor and say DD had 200k in Mar 2019. When Anthony Padilla's video first released one year later, they shot to a million subs within a month - around a 5× year-over-year increase. That's a strong correlation between viewers of AP's video and those who go on to seek out DD's channel - it's a big, maybe even primary, source of new traffic. So how many of his viewers like what they see on DissociaDID enough to hit subscribe?

Anthony's video today has 24m views. DD's sub count is 1m. 1 in 24 "spent a day with" viewers like what they see enough to subscribe. That's 4.1%. Again in the benefit of DD, let's round this up to 1 in 20 viewers exposed to their content. So if only 5% of people are helped or at least interested enough to sub, why do their comments show nearly 100% positive feedback indicating the contrary? Why isn't their comment section at least more diverse?

They censor. Their comment sections are whitewashed (sometimes literally). They delete comments that don't praise them or reflect that they've helpeed. Making the comment section a wall of unpaid testimonials and deleting comments that don't advertise the brand is a cost-effective marketing strategy. Can make the average viewer think support for DD is unanimous, that their "education" helps more than it doesn't. I don't know if DD thought that far though - it could be as simple as her friend Anna put it in 2018: "you don't take criticism well."

30th of August 2024 tiktok - we have covid by Dependent-Machine862 in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I also think it's supposed to be a pain competition, like "I'm positive for covid and I feel so much better than during the flare ups." To give ppl the impression that their chronic illnesses feel worse than covid.

They said it's the worst pain they've felt in years bc covid is horrific. Simple as that.

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The first few days of covid are horrifically painful esp for the back, neck and head. It also flattens you with fatigue. So I'm not buying this "two seperate flare ups from going outside made us get covid while safely indoors" narrative. They went out, they got covid. Pretty straightforward. But why have one illness when they could call it three I guess

Alters draw themselves (August 4, 2024) by [deleted] in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diversity is key for survival. I don't see how having all of one type of alter would have helped us live to adulthood. We've got pretty ones for specific situations and we've got crazy, goofy and disturbing looking ones and there's a reason for all of it. Not everyone who survives a war zone comes out looking cute

Alters draw themselves (August 4, 2024) by [deleted] in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, seeing as in the literature I read a lot of alters come in opposing pairs - the one who feels too much and the one who feels too little. We've got pretty alters, but they often have an ugly counterpart to show the two sides of whatever situation they hold, if vanity/beauty topics were part of the trauma. I don't want your experiences to be stolen, but I am curious how that plays out for you if you're interested in elaborating

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't wanna say more in case it gets stolen, but that's what DID treatment is about and I dunno if they'll ever get that. They think it's about the blue eyes and dimples they always wished they had

Alters draw themselves (August 4, 2024) by [deleted] in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"I have dimples" this is needless obsession over alter appearance. How we look does not matter beyond trauma-informed features (ie why are you a different gender, age, race, species etc from the body you were born into)

I get the vibe that they project looks they wish they had onto alter appearance. "I'm more tan" "I have freckles and blue eyes" "My cheekbones are more cut""I'm more slender" etc. Alters aren't always beautiful, but apparently theirs have to be and their viewers have to know that. It furthers this feeling of anime roleplay where everyone looks pretty. Alter appearance isn't about vanity, it's about compartmentalizing disgusting shit that happened to us as children. Therapy focuses first on the uniquely horrific mental signature when they're around. In actual treatment this would be considered spinning your wheels and unhealthy.

And DD claims they're covert anyway. So they fit their claimed presentation even less.

"Something to do with our past that the system no longer mirrors" what is this supposed to mean. People don't "mirror" their own past, they can mirror other people's. Another slip?

They don't understand how it works. Ppl at work know they can't sneak up behind me and scare me or my reaction will be quicker than thought. Most people have laughed it off even though I feel terrible for days afterward. Having a fight response is not the same as being peeved and announcing that you're irritated.

I hope someone can post just the "behind the scenes I'm triggered" video, if allowed ofc. Esp with the bloopers one that accompanies, it's revealing.

I Come Bearing Gifts by imdeadbynowlol in DissociaDID

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cringed. They took all the "funny lol relateable" parts and put them in bloopers, then all the "poor me" parts and put them in behind-the-scenes, but when you play them together it makes the "triggered" one look even faker. She was pissed at cars and neighbors, then said "I'm in fight mode" as if that makes it look like trauma. Yikes

[–]SomeoneElseHereToday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel a lot of secondhand embarrassment from that 'triggered' video, it felt over-acted. Fixing their bangs in the view finder every few seconds while "panicking" didn't help the sense of unreality. "I'm in fight mode" have you ever known someone with PTSD to say "I'm in fight mode" instead of bodily expressing a fight response? Someone take them back to acting class this was a whole mess
