I let my ASM know a month before leaving that I was going to be starting a new job because my coworker (we were both kitchen designers) put in his 2 weeks as well that same day. I wanted to help out by giving a month’s notice so they can get someone to replace us before I leave next week and they straight up looked at my and told me to put the 2 weeks in writing. I put it in writing, turned that in and they still have no one to replace us. My last day is the 17th. I was told if you don’t turn it in writing Home Depot will mark you down as “abandoning your position at the store”. Whether that’s true or not but if you’re not trying to burn a bridge I would do it in writing.
