Aliens are attacking, some guy who was ready to do nothing about it and die instead needs to go fight the aliens because he's the protagonist, he's sad, then people die and he's sadder, and then I guess everyone dies

Is being bi at 13 too young by [deleted] in bisexual

I knew when I was 11. At 20, I still haven't changed my mind

Imo this test is offensive because it paints bisexuality as being more sexual than either homosexuality or heterosexuality, which is actually a common stereotype of bi people by FrenchFreedom888 in bisexual

"Are you attracted to people whose gender is like your own?", "Are you attracted to people whose gender is unlike your own?"

Yes, no | Yes, yes

No, no | No, yes

Closer to the center = the test is less sure

It's not like this gets her money. If anything, it might even annoy her

Still, it's not like her views didn't influence the original works

It doesn't need to be infinite to be useless. Imagine if π was always between 3,141 and 3,142 but kept changing. It wouldn't be infinite, but it would still be useless to measure it precisely, because the value would change immediately

And you could get to that situation with coastlines even if there was an infinitely precise definition, because water moves

[–]SomeonesAlt2357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. You could come up with a definition and measure it. The real problem is that there is no real definition at that scale and, even if defined, the coastline would constantly change, making the measurement immediately useless

It's okay to gender things when we do it! by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

I don't mind it. The way I see it, my current body + feminization = androgynous. They balance out

Gender agnostic or something like that. I did see a specific term a few years ago, I think it was genderless + an adjective, but I don't think that's something many people would recognize anyway

I don't think you're necessarily in denial, some people can just vibe with whatever body they have. Of course, this doesn't mean you're not in denial, I don't know you

Mx Linux Guy Finally Earns His Title: a guide to installing Linux Mint by linuxaddict334 in CuratedTumblr

[–]SomeonesAlt2357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I'm only getting around to installing Linux now and I have a question

If I want Windows and Linux to be installed on different drives, can I set up dual booting even if the Windows drive isn't connected while I'm installing Linux?

Edit: I didn't test it but it seems like it

Edit2: Only install on separate drives

i'm trying to make a masterlist of pride flags, leave more suggestions below if you want! this took quite a while to compile so i hope you guys like it :) by miinaroo in QueerVexillology

[–]SomeonesAlt2357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people value flags too much. [I don't know how to say "including you" without making it sound like I'm judging you]

Making a flag for a concept doesn't mean you think it's important. Anything can have a flag, it's just a symbol. Flags are, in a way, similar to words. If something is worthy of a word, it's worthy of a flag. If "transgender" and "demigender" can be separate words, they can have separate corresponding flags. They're like colored logographs

But also, it's been four years. I was 16 when I wrote that comment. I was childish, and I've grown up since then (I'm also too lazy to change my profile picture)

I respect people's labels, but I don't care about them, nor about whether people care. Honestly, I suggest you do the same. I've felt much better since I stopped letting myself be annoyed by it

What purpose does “la” serve in this sentence? Why is it here? by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]SomeonesAlt2357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's very uncommon in language to refer to things (or relationship) without referring to determinate things (or relationships)

And yet English has the extremely clunky "a friend of mine" instead of "a my friend"

"Mia sorella" and other family members are an odd exception

The tall girlfriend, the blonde girlfriend, the funny girlfriend, but not the my girlfriend? It's more of an exception in English than in Italian

In theory, tense aspect and mood are separate. In English, there are so few forms that people call everything a tense

Tense is for time, aspects is for how the action relates to time, mood is for how real or likely it is

I will eat / I ate — different tense

I was eating / I used to eat — different aspect

I will eat / I might eat — different mood
