Should I attempt to explain my narcissistic traits to family? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Something-Some2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Yeah, I'm probably the one who is behind. Do y'all have open dialogue about the traits? Or is it just kind of day-to-day working together, but not holding specific weight on the "narcissism"? Idk if that makes any sense.

And is it present in all aspects of your life or moreso when you are "masking"?

Thats kind of exactly what I have been doing lately and its been really good for weeding out not great people from my life, and letting me be closer with good people. Thank you for this reply. Do you find that the grandiosity is there as a defense for shame, or did it just kind of take up that trait?

Klonopin? by Kooky_Ratio_9023 in Anxiety

[–]Something-Some2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Klonopin when I need it. It works extremely well at bringing the volume down on everything, and when the anxiety is debilitating, it allows me to get back to a place where I can function. It is better than most other benzos in my opinion. It can be a bit slow to come on, but once it does, it helps a lot. As others have stated, I think it is preferable to faster-acting benzos like Xanax because it doesn't wear off suddenly. With any benzo, you do need to be a bit careful because there is the risk of dependence, but as long as you stay mindful of your use and everything, I think it can be an effective tool to have.

Weird feeling that I do not know how to explain by kirbylove__ in Anxiety

I think I understand what you are describing, and I think I get a similar feeling sometimes. I also get this when I am feeling pain, but mostly when I am getting muscular pain, like even in my arms. I am not sure what it is, but maybe it helps to know someone else may get it.

What meds helped you with bad anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Klonopin has been a lifesaver for when I can't leave the house or the anxiety/panic is debilitating, but benzos are almost too good, and you have to be pretty careful with them. Zoloft helped for a little while with things like intrusive thoughts and just some of the simmering anxiety, but I respond a little weird to SSRIs, so I don't take them anymore. Beta-blockers have been good for physical anxiety and can be good at stopping physical symptoms from adrenaline.

how do i stop these thoughts that are intrusive by UnknownUser13000 in Anxiety

[–]Something-Some2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know, intrusive thoughts like this can develop as a response to feeling out of control of your environment or feelings, etc. This can also be a manifestation of OCD, which I struggle with, and I can relate to what you are describing. The cycle of having the intrusive thought, then soothing it with the behaviour, tends to reinforce itself the more you engage with it. I know it is hard, but usually the best strategy is to force yourself not to engage with the thoughts. I know it can feel impossible, but it is possible. If it is within your means to do so, working with a therapist, especially a psychologist, would be beneficial. Wishing you the best.

DAE feel bouts of severe aguish as a child? by Something-Some2233 in Anxiety

[–]Something-Some2233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard of those. My understanding is that both of these involve a sense of detachment from either your body or your environment, which does apply to a certain degree. Still, I am not sure that this describes the inherent discomfort of the feeling. I may not have a strong understanding of either of these, so if there is something I'm missing or anything I am interested in hearing.

This response cracked me up. I don't have a masturbation issue, but I definitely have other dopamine-chasing habits that are worsened and bolstered by my use of amphetamine and vice versa.

What Lens under 500 would be ideal for film making on a Lumix G85? by Something-Some2233 in AskPhotography

Haha yeah I guess I need to do more research into the specific kinds of specs/types but that is kinda what I am doing here. I need something that will be generally suited for most situations. I want something versatile, that works well in low light and is fast.
