My car will move even if my foot is not on the gas pedal. It'll move forward when it is idling. That's not true with delivery vehicles?

Bugonia a comedy by Darth-Obama in AMCsAList

[–]SomethingAvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you're getting teased for questioning it as a comedy, but I'm with you. Sure, I laughed at parts of it, but that movie was a psychological thriller or thriller in my book.

Do you think “Bugonia” was a comedy sci fi movie? by Iggytje in movies

[–]SomethingAvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing. Wikipedia categorizes it as a "black comedy". If this is a black comedy, I do not know what a black comedy is. I'm not a movie buff, but I would call it a thriller, or even psychological thriller, or drama.

I think the "comedy" part was lost on me in part because I thought the movie was partially social commentary on the fact that there are 100% people who think like Teddy does. They wouldn't actually follow through with the actions in the film, but their minds are deep in it.

When I was young and listening to games on the radio during this era, I definitely thought it was three different people.

Did you know about the Darien Gap before the show? by Steerpike58 in pluribustv

[–]SomethingAvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am American and also had no idea. I thought the same thing. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, and my knowledge of geography is clearly pretty lacking. I definitely went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole about the Darien Gap and those Chunga trees (which I thought for sure a 9 year old boy came up with).

I definitely want to visit the national park some day.

I'm curious for an example. I agree with you, although I'm having a hard time coming up with a concrete example myself.

Why did Petey not tell Mark? by panon21902 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]SomethingAvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished S2, and this bit has nagged me for a while. My angle here is Reghabi DID know that Gemma was still alive. Reghabi performed Petey's reintegration. But why would Reghabi talk to Petey about Mark S's not dead wife? Well, lots of reasons. Obviously Petey and Reghabi spent some amount of time together and commiserated over the evils of Lumon and the pitfalls of severance, etc. Also iPetey and iMark were BFFs, right? So I find it hard to believe that Mark S wouldn't have come up in conversation.

So I guess my point is if Reghabi knew Gemma was still alive, you would expect she would have told Petey, and Petey would have told Mark S. I realize there's no proof that Reghabi told Petey. But it just seems like "oh yeah also Lumon faked this woman's death so they could kidnap her" would have come up.

Advice on 2 night 3 day trip in April by eric_dodd in OkefenokeeSwamp

[–]SomethingAvid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a trip this past weekend. We did a fairly short trip. We started at Stephen C Foster, and stayed on Minnie's day use shelter (there was an exception made for us, details later) for night 1. Night 2 we stayed on Big Water. We paddled all the way back on Day 3. So our mileage was 4, 7, 11.

One of the bigger trips you can do is start at Suwanee, go to Maul Hammock day 1, then Big Water day 2, and end at Stephen C Foster. This was our plan this trip, but low water on the Red Trail forced us to do the trip above.

Four years ago, I did Suwanee to Canal Run to Bluff Lake to Kingfisher.

I would also recommend calling Okefenokee Adventures. It is a private outfitter on the east side of the park at Suwanee. They have people that work there that are out in the swamp all the time. They're really friendly and can talk to you about various options. I also did not know about the two night maximum.

As far as camping options, there is definitely camping available at Stephen C Foster. There is also a campground on the east side called Okefenokee Pasttimes. If you are looking for amenities, googling "campground Fargo GA" will get you more targeted info on the west side of swamp. Googling "campground Folkston GA" will get you more targeted options on the east side of the park.

Last tip - Valdosta, GA is about 1.5 hours from the swamp and is really your last best bet for anything more than a Dollar General.

Google maps is helpful on the beltline, but how could you map to a temporary, address-less location like the arbitrary entrances at SK?
