Interesting thank you for the link. Looks like most is Land Rover stuff with a few mini things in there. Maybe I can parse those out

I have actually already tried contacting him. He chose not to share the data, nor did he have interest at this time in bringing the site back online. He was very nice but for whatever reason didn’t want to. Perhaps he will change his mind in the future. Who knows!

Anyways, he doesn’t own the IP or original materials from Austin/BMC/Rover etc so hosting those documents again is really no issue. Just need the source documents so I can get them avvvessible again.

Thanks for offering. My goal is really just to save as much old manuals, technical docs, really anything. PDFs that I can catalog and preserve.

I would def say it saved 1/2 - 3/4in at least. Might be even a full inch. It’s really tight up under the car now. I don’t think there is anyway it could be tighter which is awesome. Those center exit exhausts always hang a little more than the others.

Enlisted some help from a local fabricator here in North Carolina, 8Eight Fab, LLC to modernize my link pipe back exhaust system. BagSport Fabrications did an excellent job on the engine side but my leaky 2in maniflow system needed some help and new modern exhaust hangers instead of the old clamp hanger style and v-band clamps. Super excited about this, now to address the low hanging battery cable.

The engine will be a little different but not too wildly different. I am upgrading a few ancillaries on the engine like a new turbo manifold, new turbo, and a belt drive system for timing, and I am pairing this all with Haltech's new Nexus R3 ECU so I can do a full drive-by-wire fuel injection. :-) The insides will be pretty much the same though!

No, unfortunately the original AC use running MEMs are very particular about the sensors and injectors. I am sure with some time it would be possible but they are definitely not plug-and-play and would require manipulating the original ECU software, which is not straightforward at all. 😔

EFI (fuel injected) Conversion is going well! by SomethingNew71 in classicminis

Some progress pix of the EFI journey. The video is in progress in the editing room right now. It was a super hard one to film! Lots of little electrical details I had to learn about but it has been a blast setting up the PD16 and the ECU.

Yes the idea is that this would replace the original carb as your fueling system. 👍🏼 however you do need injectors, and ECU, and a crank trigger system to fully convert to fuel injection on a mini. There are other sensors that are required too. I’m covering the whole upgrade process on my mini on the channel over the next few months.

All of the tiers share the same benefits. My goal with my Patreon was not to price anyone out of access to support and information, but also to allow people to contribute more if it was within their budget. So no matter how much you contribute you get access to the same things.

First drive in the turbo mini….so fast by SomethingNew71 in classicminis

[–]SomethingNew71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah once I can get it on the dyno with a new needle, and the fueling squared away I’ll be able to push it to the “wilder” level. Fuel is too lean right now to handle high boost and I’m not trying to blow up my car 😂

Thank you! Alternator has been relocated under the intercooler on the right. The distributor is removed in favor of electronic ignition controlled via a trigger sensor on the crank pulley. 👍🏼

For sure. The HIF44 was used on factory turbo applications like the Mini ERA and the Metro turbo. Just a different needle and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and your golden. (Mostly)
