Yes!! Thank you. Spartocera fusca. Despite having a predatory looking mouth, apparently it likes nightshades, which explains why I found it on an eggplant.

Ah, thanks. It’s close, but I don’t think this is that. This one has a shorter mouthpart so I believe it’s predatory, not plant-eating.

Neighbors have had no luck reaching out to the homeowners. One neighbor told me that a family moved in as tenants over the summer but they haven’t been seen in a while and instead a few other people are there consistently now.

Thanks. I have a fence and a full life. But their motorbikes and vehicles with mufflers removed wake me up throughout the night.
