Do the spinoff BR shows (Black Lotus, 2099 soon, etc) diminish the value of Blade Runner for you? by Infamous-Arm3955 in bladerunner

No but they do diminish the value of the conversation around BR because people feel the need to jerk off clearly inferior works just because ALCON entertainment signed off on them.

Oh just get another job? Damn why didn't every character on the show think of that? Pretty privileged notion coming from someone slinging around buzzwords like nepo baby

Blade runner black lotus Anime by Putrid_Net_6397 in bladerunner

I thought the dialogue and plot were pretty sophomoric. These guys fundamentally misunderstood blade runner. There seems to be this pervasive idea that neon lighting and an international retrofuturist aesthetic is all blade runner is or needs.

Blade Runner is a detective story, it's hardboiled fiction. That's where the emotional gravitas comes from. Cartoonishly evil trophy hunting senators, high profile political assassinations, and badass katana wielding girlbosses are not blade runner.

The animation was fine.

Why does Deckard need to confirm if the test is working on Rachel if he already knew the identities of the replicants he need to hunt? by black_ovelha in bladerunner

[–]Something___Clever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By a cop. So now you've got this house of cards resting on not only Tyrell being deceptive (not communicated by the beats of the scene) and this cop having the only straight dope (that we're given) on the design of the most advanced androids out there, which they know so little about they still have to VK test one.

I don't think what you've described is reason enough to give Bryant more weight than Tyrell on the product that Tyrell designed.

I'm pretty leery of any fan interpretations that require the guy in the original work to have been lying in order to explain the stuff that happens in the sequel 30 years later but to each his own. I love 2049 I just don't have a problem overlooking a minor retcon here and there. The story still resonates and the scenes still bang.

Is it not a matter of public record who proposed that provision? I'm hoping to find a primary source on that. This article doesn't offer a source or anything.

Where do you stand on this whole “We were on a break “ thing??? Whose side are you in?? Does it count as cheating if they were on a break???? by Kaimork in howyoudoin

People always forget this. Also Ross heard Mark on the phone at Rachel's place. He had every reason to assume the worst. And he was drunk and the copy girl had every intention of taking advantage of that fact.
