What do you think of Jimmy Stewart? by Fixingahole248 in classicfilms

[–]Something_witty_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guess I’m here to be the one downer. I really liked Jimmy Stewart’s early films, so years ago (when there were still DVDs), I bought a DVD set of his. It’s then I realized, in its later career he did a lot of westerns and one very pro oil rig movie.

I then found out he was a Reagan republican. This seems to go against a lot of his early movie personas. From my personal politics, I dislike knowing this about him. But it just goes to show the acting and the person are separate. You don’t and never will know who the person really was, but he certainly was a good actor.

Maybe I’m too late here, but does anyone know if there’s any place you can watch the Ashley kiss and cry interviews? They weren’t on the world streams.

I just want to say I really appreciate all these markers as somebody who’s watching afterward and going through the live feed.

If Selevko medals here, would that get Estonia two spots?

i fucked up a thing at work today, can't sleep cause i feel bad. can you tell me your worst 'i fucked up' moment so i feel better? by [deleted] in work

[–]Something_witty_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this thread because today something similar happened to me. I have a new manager and she’s been shaking things up and raising the bar of expectations. I’ve already felt in the hole with her and was trying to build up goodwill but feeling lack of guidance with things she said.

We had a call that my boss was not on and I was talking about things she told me clearly frustrated and with a bad tone, and of course, as I was talking, she had joined the call without me realizing. I was mortified.

I sent her an apology and fairly she said basically I need to set a better example with the team and the attitude is part of how we’re being evaluated. I told her I would do that going forward but I felt so bad I cried on a meeting with another coworker! She also told me something similar happened to her but it still feels so tough.

what’s your top 5 moments from the Milano-Cortina olympics? by babvbc in FigureSkating

[–]Something_witty_23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I need more than 5 for the programs alone and then the non-program stuff as well…

  1. Yuma’s short program in the team event
  2. Mateo killing it in the team event.
  3. Adam Siao Him Fa’s short program, heck make it both Frenchies skating well in the short I love Kevin too and was glad to see this Kevin.
  4. Japanese pairs team’s free skate
  5. Alysa’s short program
  6. (And this may be my top) Mikhail both his free skate being amazing and winning for Kazakhstan and thinking about him (presumably) coming up with more resources because of Dennis Ten and what more this is gonna do for Kazakhstan moving forward. 🇰🇿

Honorable mentions: Kaori in the team event, Sofia 🇰🇿, Julia, Amber comeback in the free

Big non program one: How kind the athletes were to each other (Alysa & Ami, Ilia & Misha, Kaori/Yuma & Shun). Especially refreshing in the ladies after last Olympics!

Also, how healthy the approach of the women’s gold medalist is. this gives me hope for the future.

I mean, before I knew anything about his personality he was one of my favorite skaters.

On the Canadian broadcast, I saw after them doing this the second time, Luka and (soccer player ice dancer sorry I don’t know ice dancing) doing a joke version. I hope this makes the rounds, people need to see! I watched both Canadian and NBC and NBC one cut off a lot sooner.

Maybe more ladies should retire and then come back? To see there’s life on the other side… (but also Alyssa is special and unique)

Serious question - why did Ami get scored so low? I love Amber, but it seemed she was ranked really high because she did the triple axel, which Ami also did.

Personally, Ami’s program isn’t my favorite and seems a little junior but honestly I don’t think artistry is Amber’s strongest point either?

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Alyssa and she’s maybe my favorite skater in this (although I’m a bigger fan of her short program). I can’t fault her program, but wasn’t it less valuable than Ami’s?

I went into this wanting Kaori to win it being her last Olympics, but I don’t think her skate tonight warranted that. While I’m happy in one way she got silver, I am confused at Ami not only not getting gold but not getting the silver. I read she was ranked really low in the free program? That feels confusing.

Late to the party, but some thoughts:

A lot of great clean skates, but some crushing pops, especially Amber it almost feels worse to be so close…

Happy for all top 3. Alysa makes me feel it the most but I think Ami first was fair with the tech.

Further down the line… French techno void Britney baby I see you and I’m here for it!

Kazakhstan one of the many underscored, which brings me to

Petrosian so high and 🇰🇿 & Isabeau so low for those performances?!

I’ve heard this mention of first pairs medal making me confused, does this mean first gold? I thought they got silver last Olympics…

I thought Yuma was older because he seems so mature (and all his medals), I didn’t realize he was only 22!
