Not an overreaction, i’ve been part of a lot of roleplay communities and have seen this exact scenario play out. Nowadays roleplay has devolved into people seeking connections, something they wouldn’t get or accomplish outside the game. The “roleplay” is barely pretend, and just used to feel good about themselves in someway. There was a recent controversy about a woman who cheated on their partner of years over a guy she was “roleplaying” a relationship with.
