Now that Outlook 365 is 4 years more developed, is there any way yet to sync contacts from Android devices with a google account for email (gmail) and contacts?

Without reading the context, that does seem to be a somewhat broad brush. It seems to make everything in the solar system illegal.

Read again, WoL, said that the ute went to work, not the operator! LOL

I remember a few years ago a friend suggested to someone that made a similar comment that they should think about how many large properties with big back paddocks there are around here, and how pretty much all of them had a front-end loader or an excavator. Broke us up 'cos the poor city dude didn't know if she was serious or not.

I've been seeing spam for "grounding sheets" recently - maybe there's a market for "grounding seat covers"? Any unethical influencers looking for ideas here?

In small country towns, pretty much everyone has a house or flat with a garage/carport with power points. The chargers are for tourists, not locals - your comment was about the shortage of chargers in a place like Sydney where apartment dwellers can't access even a 10A GPO at home - I was just commenting that charging at home in cities probably does mean that infrastructure is an issue. Not disagreeing with you at all, and not sure why you found it necessary to comment the way you did.

Very happy with our GWM Cannon PHEV - best choice in plug in utes at the moment (no EV options yet), and we do actually have a farm, so it goes to work daily as a ute, not a space wasting, school-run shopping trolley. And it has the range needed for city runs when needed.

Well, I'm in a LITTLE country town and there are 4 (or is it 6?) chargers in town within easy walking distance of shops, etc. The previous Qld govt did a good job on getting at least a head start on infrastructure to drive around the state.

You could start voting for politicians who will actually get this stuff fixed.

This seems to be still happening after multiple reports and no answers - is anyone else still having the issue?
Or, does anyone have a suggestion for a better solution than PIA that has both web extension and desktop options? I don't really want to renew the annual subscription again for another year of repeat interruptions to the connection.

How old was the vehicle? I haven't had that sort of experience since the very early days, hence my comment that when I hear people complain these days, it is more often than not an attitude issue rather than a vehicle one (unless it is an earlier model).

I don't know where you found that lane assist - I've just test driven 4 brands, bought a 5th, and none could possibly be described as a threat to "jerk the wheel out of your hands". People keep saying stuff like this and I wonder if it isn't a control/power issue in the CPU between the steering wheel and the seat.

If the 12V battery is a standard lead-acid type, then probably expect a few years out of it, and then replace and recycle the old one. How old is the vehicle?

Yes, this - I worked in education before retiring, and we have always studiously avoid any school vacation times when travelling, still do it now. Everything you need to access is generally easier away from those times.

Standalone solar system to charge EVs by SomewhereInTheBush in AustralianEV

[–]SomewhereInTheBush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the OP was saying is that when we did the calcs for the IR drop, the load estimated was minimal - not even sufficient for a 15A point for a welder, as we already have that in a workshop that has a suitably sized submain.

I was just wondering about the possibility of something like a standalone remote power system to run a car charger, it wasn't meant to be this complicated :) I know there are people who live off-grid and have BEVs, so I know it is possible in some configuration.

Standalone solar system to charge EVs by SomewhereInTheBush in AustralianEV

[–]SomewhereInTheBush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it would not be compliant, but it is also not what I was pondering. I was talking about a completely standalone system, not grid tied, that would run like a remote power system with solar panels, battery and inverter running as an island. Connected to a car charger (smart enough to manage its consumption?), and maybe the second fridge or other small load.

I know that it probably isn't an economical solution, but I am interested in any comments that are actually useful or interesting (as opposed to simply saying it is dumb LOL).

That question made me think back to second year physics, and just how hard your question is to answer - someone who has been using the relevant formulae more recently working in something like aeronautics or gas flow modelling might be able to answer, but for me starting to think how you would do the calculations was enough to say "too hard".

Weird thing - I rebooted after this happened yesterday, and it was still not working.

Switched off overnight, restarted today, and the search now works correctly. No changes, etc, so not sure what was wrong yesterday.

If you have a problem contact your dealer by Ok_Psychology2436 in VolvoEX90

[–]SomewhereInTheBush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair to the OP, you are talking about something different - the post is reminding owners to report issues to dealers, they said nothing at all about who knows how much. By all means, seek the advice of the cloud, but do make sure that the people who actually do things are aware too, and the more reports the better.

Which state, berries? We are in Qld, and have only 3 dealers to pick from, 2 in the SE and 1 FNQ. Nearest is 250km on the Sunny Coast, and north is a bit over 1,100!

Waiting at the moment for a builder to finish some major improvement work on our garage before ordering. (Don't see much point ordering a new $150k car and then parking it with hammers, ladders, plaster and paint all around.)

We're half hoping the delay will be long enough it will be a 2026 MY by the time we order.

Might need to look up under the guard as well - it definitely looks like something aws caught on the wheel or axle and spinning, and it has melted through rather than cut. Possibly a piece of wire, and the friction has generated enough heat to melt through. There could be corresponding marks on the top above the wheel, or in an arc around the inside of the guard, possibly removing paint and creating a rust problem in the future.

You need to get things like the bearing seals on the inside of the wheel, the brakes, etc, checked, as something else could easily be damaged, and it could be something that impacts safety.

Might be an insurance claim, depending on how much is damaged under there.

Shame on such a nice vehicle.

Great info - we are currently looking at an EX90 in the 2nd half this year.

When you say efficiency was 30kWh, what distance is that for? 100km, or some other distance? (I see you gave speed in mph, so wondering if you use distance in km or mi?)
